Raimi's Spiderman or Webb's? For me it's a no brainer. Raimi's was spectacular.

Webb's. Some more character development for Connors/the Lizard and the inclusion of his wife and kid would have made it better, but the pros outweigh the cons for me.

Webb's. The human element alone puts it over the Raimi Movies for me.

Raimi's Spider-Man. Don't get wrong, I liked Webb's version too. But I loved the camp and humor of the original. I get it. Going darker and realistic is in right now, but I loved that Raimi's Spider-Man didn't take itself too seriously.

Sam Raimi directed Spider-Man 2 which is still the superior Spider-Man film. So, I'm giving him the edge.

SM2 is still the be all end all, I suppose. But Webb's origin story >>>> Raimi's.
Just the fact that the two leads had chemistry alone made it a better film.

The trilogy v ASM?
Raimi's portrayal of Spidey (the character) v Webb's portrayal of Spidey? For me ASM didn't top Spidey 2, sorry, not for me. The villian was WAY better, everything else in ASM tops Raimi's take on the Spidey universe. Webb needs to have a kick arse villian that I feel weight and stakes when Spidey and the villian clash and I just didn't feel that in ASM. To be fair to Webb, I thought the villians in BB and IM were rubbish but that didn't ruin my enjoyment of those movies as it didn't ruin my enjoyment of ASM. |

a no brainer, Webb definitely
Though, Raimi has really well paced action and Doc Ock/Green Goblin are way more developed than Dr. Connors/The Lizard. If Webb can get these things right as well, the sequel will totally blow my mind

Raimi did it without a cinematic blueprint. With all that Webb had at his disposal, he should've come up with something alot better.

Which is why they should've skipped the origin altogether. Even with a new guy in a new suit, the audience will still grasp that it's Spider-Man.

Non-sequitur. Hardly an argument; if that's the case then TDK would have been a hopeless affair for retreading the Joker. The issue isn't that certain things were repeated, it's that they weren't done considerably better. |

Webbs. The way the emotional element was handles surpassed anything in the Raimi version. Don't get me wrong, I do like certain things about the Raimi films, but overall, they're just average IMO.
Webbs spidey is on the right track for me :-)

It's hard to say. There were good elements in each, but the amount of depth in Webb's is a very strong base for the winner.

I particularly liked Garfield screaming at the end when Captain Stacey died.
That scene said so much to me. The amount of pain Garfield went throughout the whole movie and it all manifested itself in that scream and to see the growth he had at that instance really moved me. |

Both were great, but personally, I prefer Webb's.

People would have thought that this was a vague Spider-Man 4 without the origin. We already had people on this board calling it just that, thanks to Avi Arad's comments. The origin was a must.

How about this- WHO CARES if they went in thinking it was Spider-Man 4. As long as the audience enjoyed what they were seeing the movie would've made money, and they'd have figured things out as they went along. Such as it is, distancing themselves from the first 3 hasn't helped the box office, so it wouldn't have mattered. People definitely are avoiding the film because they don't need to see the origin again. That and the script is subpar.

Raimi's was better... better origin that answered all questions, better chemistry between ALL actors... not just Peter & his gurl... SUPERIOR web-slinging sequances... and just a better story.
I thought the new movie was ok... I thought the fight scenes were some of the better Spider-Man fight scenes ever shown... but everything else was simply dull to mediocre at best.
