I'm pretty sure Jim Joyce's strike zone extends into Maryland. It's almost Glavinion.

Explains why the Nats relievers have struck out 8 batters so far.

The corner was there, then around the fifth it just kept getting wider and wider. And there were some inexplicable no-calls on punchouts. Werth actually struck out looking on a curve there, but it was called a ball and he hits a walk-off homer.
Jim Joyce is freaking terrible! No matter where he's at, the game becomes all about him. He missed that easy out call at 1B yesterday that went against the Nats, and today he totally shutdown the Cardinal offense with that strikezone. I was having Glavine flashbacks! I guess this means that it's the Nationals turn to get screwed tomorrow. Why the hell is David Wells wearing that wig?

Yeah and that was his mistake. Girardi figured out how to have his cake and eat it, too. Let A-Rod show everyone he still can't handle the postseason, then take him out when he absolutely needed to.

I call it the Rob Johnson syndrome. Doug Flutie was playing way better than him, but Johnson was making so much money that Buffalo felt it had to get rid of Flutie and force Johnson into the starting role. All because they couldn't accept that they overpaid for a sorry backup quarterback.
IMO A-Rod should be hitting ninth, the second leadoff man. Let him get on base for other more clutch hitters. He's left like a dozen men on base thus far this series, he can't drive them in. Let someone drive him in.

The O's go from pitching away, giving Texiera nothing to pull, to throwing inside to walk him. Why play with fire with a freaking side-armer?
Please god, pitch around Cano and let A-Rod hit with two on, two out. Please? Damn, Cano with a horrible AB.

A-Rod leads off the bottom of the 11th. Will he be PH for???
Nooo, A-Rodriguez hits for himself! TBS brings the fun fact that for this series, past the sixth inning, Arod had a streak of SEVEN straight fannings. The streak is broken! A-Rod puts the ball in play on a weak groundout

Unless these rookies just played out of their minds for 3 months the A's should have a pretty decent future.

People seem to be forgetting that the A's had the better record and were the favorites in this series. The "plucky underdogs" thing got a bit overblown.
Great series by them though, although it should'nt have even come to a Game 5 had Valverde not brought his gas can to the mound in Game 4. Go Tigs! Although I sort of want Baltimore to win tonight, part of me would really enjoy handing the Yankees their heads in the playoffs for the third time in seven years.

Makes sense to get Chavez and Ibanez in there with Hammel on the mound.

Ugh, that song totally took me out of the movie because it wasn't released until AFTER 2002...I don't see why they didn't have an original song instead.

Bob Brenly is pretty awesome now that he no longer has to pretend that he's a Cubs' fan. He actually does his homework and knows what he's talking about.
Also, major props to MLB Net team of Costas and Kaat. I enjoyed the hell out of them too. Well, that may be it for the Cards. Motte came in pitching like it was garbage time instead protecting a 1 run deficit. The closer isn't always the right guy to go with in that spot.

Beltran is like the Anti-A-Rod. He doesn't always produce in the regular season like his salary would have it, but he's a beast in the postseason.

Most of the money he got was pretty much based off that one playoff series he had with Houston where he hit like a ton of homeruns. Although he was a good player before going to the Mets and being plagued by injuries.
And jeeze, it seems like the Nats are on the verge of choking big time.
