No, he cost them 2 games. Game 1 was tied but he imploded giving up 5 runs which pretty much gave them no chance of winning. Then he blew the save in game 3. It was only tied after but they were on the road which makes it a bigger deal. Overall, he gave up 6 runs in less than 5 innings, that's pretty terrible for any reliever, especially your closer.

That's why I said one game at most. The first time it wasn't certain the Orioles would be the first ones to score and take the game. Yankees could've scored one run there or later and still would've won.

The second time yes if he shut them down they would've won but he still didn't give up the winning run. It could've gone either way after that.

On today's episode of "As A-Rod's World Turns":

1) A-Rod to the Marlins rumors are starting already. Cashman is denying the reports that discussions have taken place.

2) Sources in the Yankees front office are confirming that the Yankees did find out the truth regarding him passing balls to an Australian swimsuit model in the crowd during game 2 and his benching is mostly punishment.

3) No A-Rod in the lineup again. Chavez batting 6th at 3rd Base.

Nick Swisher back in the lineup batting 2nd, Granderson on the bench in favor of Gardner in CF.

McCarver just mentioned how he was talking to David Cone and Cone said that he wants his strikes to look like balls and his balls to look like strikes. McCarver is marveled by this idea and says he's never heard that before.

This dude is 70 years old, was a successful major league catcher for a decade, and the basis of high-level pitching floors him.

It's just crazy what kind of difference a week makes. I mean I would have expected the series to be close, but the Yankees have just collapsed internally and are a complete mess, especially since the moment Jeter got hurt.

I just had a though. How weird is it that the only remaining member that's healthy and eligible to play from the Yankee's core group is Andy Pettitte. I mean Posada retired, Jeter and Mo are hurt was not much of a factor since he started late and missed a lot of time injured.

Andy was hurt for the majority of the season though. He just made it back in time for September.

I feel for Girardi though. He teared up and the end of his postgame thanking the media for respecting his privacy regarding his dad. That must have been a **** week, your dad dies, you leave your team at a horrible time for the funeral then meet up with them in Detroit in the midst of more of A-Rod's bulls**t behavior.

What behavior? I mean, other than not hitting, which is what he was already known for doing in the postseason with the exception of 2009, what was he doing wrong? The girl in the crowd thing?

This is what I can't seem to understand. I know he's the highest paid player and is expected to come through when it matters most, and he never does, but what is with all the A-Rod hate. I mean its not like the Yankees were actually on the verge of winning a few games and he blew it for them. The entire lineup sucked at the plate, yet he gets the blame, even when he's not playing. It's like the media is just looking for something to say about him no matter what he does.

Because when you make the money he does, your supposed to make appearances in the post season. Your guys making league minimum and $1,000,000 are your guys that you work with to get you to the post season and then your high paid guys show up. Even if he hasn't done it in the past much, you still step up. Can't be the highest paid and then just say **** it in the post season, lead by example.

Well, with Barry Zito starting game 5 and their bullpen blown up, looks like another Tigers-Cardinals World Series.

I think it will be interesting to see what Stl's lineup does against Detroit's pitching which has been nasty, but then again, the Cards have a better lineup than the A's or Yanks.

To be fair, Texas was the team that offered him all of that money in the first place, and at the time, he didn't have too much postseason experience with Seattle. Plus, he never got to the playoffs with Texas, so it's not like his stats can be attributed to what he did in the playoffs. He was paid for what he was doing during the season at the time, unlike Beltran who got paid big based on what he could do in the postseason. Texas felt he was worth the money, but he was never tested until he got to NY, which to be fair again, a lot of big name players just don't perform. I wouldn't be surprised that if he actually does get traded elsewhere that his numbers would pick up again.

As for his second big contract, the Yankees are just dumb, and they overpaid him because they were banking on him breaking the all time HR record, and they knew if they didn't pay big, someone else would, because seriously, you don't go from getting paid that much money to getting paid less if people still believed you could perform at a high level.

It begs the question, were the Tigers pitchers just pitching great, or were the Yankees just not hitting? Not to take anything away from then Tigers, but I think it was more of a case of the Yankees just imploding. The A's gave Detroit some trouble, other than Verlander, so it will be interesting to see if they are really as good as they looked against the Yankees.

As someone with no real investment in any of the teams, this post season has been disappointing.
