I wonder if the news of A-Rod's surgery is just an excuse for why he played poorly in the playoffs, and whether its a sign that the end is nigh for him. There's talk of him missing significant time this season, so I wonder if he'll even be healthy enough to complete a another couple of seasons after this one.

Dodgers sign Greinke to 6 year $147 million dollar deal.

Kershaw or Hernandez could be become the first $200 million dollar pitcher if they go to free agency.

With all his injuries and poor play, he'll never get to 762. I think Bonds will be safe for awhile. His next biggest threat is Pujols, but it seems his HR's have been fading as well.

Greinke isn't a guy you should give a huge contract to. This turned out good for the Mets since the Rangers might meet their demands for Dickey now.

If I were the Rangers I'd trade a few prospects to the Rays for Shields or Hellickson or maybe even Price.

Price would most more than a "few prospects."

Hamilton signs with Angels. It was a nice run with the Rangers, but why with their arch rivals?

Essentially, why settle for 3 years and $75 million when you can get $125 million for 5.

I kinda feel like the Rangers are better off in the longrun. I don't see Hamilton performing anywhere near the level he is expected to in the next 5 years. If anything, I expect him to have the same kind of quiet season that Pujols had last season, where he puts up decent numbers, but nowhere near what he is known for.

This could be Toronto's rotation on Opening Day:

1. RA Dickey
2. Josh Johnson
3. Mark Buerhrle
4. Brandon Morrow
5. Ricky Romero/JA Happ/Chad Jenkins

Although I would not be too surprised if one of Morrow, Happ, Romero or Jenkins goes to the Mets in exchange for Dickey.

Is the AL East slowly becoming the most competitive division in Baseball, seeing as how all 5 teams have the potential to Contenders?

I really hope RA and the Jays make it far into the playoffs. I wish them nothing but luck!

It certainly would be refreshing to see someone different in the playoffs from the AL East.

I think the Mets good a decent deal. Dickey is old and Mets are not going anywhere...Although I think Dickey can play another 5 years

The trade is a steal for the Mets. It's basically RA Dickey for the Blue Jays' best hitting prospect, a catcher of all positions, and one of their top pitching prospects (though still raw). Thole for Buck is a wash.

Stop getting so excited...Its a good trade value wise...But as a organizational move, this is a disaster. No one will really be showing up at games at Citi Field. David Wright is not bringing 30,000 people to Queens.

Neither will Dickey. A pitcher only makes around 30 starts a year and only about half is at home.

I doubt Dickey will have a repeat season. Most NL pitchers get hammered when they make the transition to the AL.
