I think there's been plenty of good comic accurate suits before avengers. Nolan just went his way with the costume.

I disagree. I always thought Batman was far better off with the white eyes because it makes him look more like a monster as opposed to a man in a bat suit. Bill Finger and Bob Kane decided to give him the white eyes so that he could have more of a supernatural feel and look to him. I love the scenes from the comics and the animated series where you see the white eyes in the shadows while his entire body is camouflaged in the darkness. Plus, the white eyes are capable of showing more emotions IMO. I really do hope they find a way to add them to the suit in the reboot though I doubt they will since they can't even get the main parts of the suit right.

I also found it weird how Nolan, as well as the fans that defend the armor/rubber suits, claimed the suit from the movies were used for the realism when the comic suit is far more realistic. It is easier to move around in it, it camouflages in the dark a lot better due to the grays and dark blues (or dark blacks depending on which version of the costume), and the person under the suit is able to seem more supernatural due to the suit looking more theatrical. If becoming Batman in real life was possible and someone was committed to doing it, it would make more logical sense for them to go with the fabric suit from the comics.

The new Snake Eyes costume is awesome. Take away the shoulder pads and chest armor and you've got a good batsuit.

I do like the all white in the eyes. When Batman is in the shadows and all you see are two crazy looking white specs... intimidating. How would they do that on film though

Oh, I am sure they Can. I'm think more about the how.. I mean would they do it more practically and put white pieces over the eyes (like a one way mirror without the reflection and all white) or would they white out around the eyes and use contacts (the exact opposite of the black around the eyes) or would they CGI the white in so you never see the eyes with the mask on..

I would prefer the lenses over the eyes. Perhaps they could CGI it by having his eyes go dead bright when he's in total darkness.

1. I know a lot of posters here hate the cowl, but it's the thing I love most about the concept of this costume, it's a great looking cowl I would love. I also
love the way the cape is attached and the knee pads used.
Also not numbered, but I thought the Batman Begins/The Dark Knight belt is perfect.

2. With the Batman Earth One suit, I want the yellow bat-symbol again. If no yellow, then I like the grey and midnight blue/black combo here. I want the
black bat-symbol to be prominent on top of the grey. I also would like the piping here from the torso and legs; the leg piping here is the only amount of
piping I want, it's in the proper place for the legs to stretch, bend, and it has a proper codpiece without it looking like an overly huge bulge.

3. With Cap's costume, I want to use the same fabric for Batman's suit, excluding cape, except in Batman's colors in pic 2. I also would like the same
type of boots.

4. On the Tron costume, I like the hexagon-pattern mesh underneath the armor to combine with the Cap America Avengers costume.

5. Snake Eye's arms are just like how I'd like Batman's to be like. I'd like to see the mesh material be the Tron hexagon-mesh instead. I also like the
shoulder and bicep pads, and the gauntlets, all that needs to be added are the bat-fins.

6. I liked the material used on Nite-Owl's cape from Watchmen, and in the color of pic 2. One change I would make, would be to make the cape fully
black, but have the underside to it be the midnight blue color.

I don't know if I would go with any of these designs myself, mostly because I have my own ideas and they are sort of particular, but if the movie went
with any of these costumes, and almost any suggested, I wouldn't be upset. There are so many great ideas for his costume suggested on this thread. I
wasn't to thrilled with the Batman costume in Begins or later in Dark Knight (except for him having a real neck) but they worked fine. I also wasn't too
thrilled about the designs for Cap in Cap 1 and Avengers, but they turned out great. So I think any suggestions are great, and I can see them using any
of these ideas and them working in the next movies.

Personally though I think some padding like the Snakeyes costume with gray spandex stretched over it. Gray like this, to contrast the big black bat
symbol and the black cape and mask and the yellow belt.

Really it all depends on what direction they want the film and the character to go. If they want it to be more like the comic where unreal things can
happen like Ras living forever because of the Lazarus Pits or the Joker being created from falling into acid or Clayface and Killer Croc, then they would
probably go with a more costume look and less armor. And you could do that and still keep it dark and viewable for older audiences, like Timm's Batman
in all his Batman cartoons. But if they are going with a more down to Earth Batman like Nolan did, they might keep the armor theme and go with
something that is clearly armor and visible and not something that looks like a costume necessarily. If they want THIS Batman to end up joining the JLA
in a movie they would need to design his costume to not only look good on screen, and maybe something more comic book like, but something that
would fit in with the rest of the JLA costumes. You wouldn't necessarily want a JLA in spandexy costumes and then Batman in rubber armor. (For the
record, I think Wonder Woman should have a sort of traditional Amazonian Roman type armor similar to Xena if you need a comparison, similarly
Aquaman's clothing should be more armor like and traditional garb for Atlantians and not a costume, GL should have something that looks like an alien
space uniform, and Superman should look like Superman.) Also, is this the Batman from the Brother Eye movie idea they had earlier where Batman is
responsible for creating the OMACs and Brother Eye that attack the JLA? If so then his armor and tech should be very high tech and advanced. Less
spandex and more armor and techno looking. But maybe they go with a Batman more like Alex Ross' War on Crime book, a Batman who uses hardly
any advanced tech and really only has batarangs, rope, and a car. I think I am going to use the Snakeyes picture and photoshop it into my Batman idea.

Personally I want a Batman who has a visually interesting on screen, graphic. Contrasting the colors is a big thing I think, the grays and blacks and
yellow. I am tired of Bat suits that are all one color. But if they did that again I wouldn't complain.

I would hope they tackle the more fantastical elements of batman. No reason you can't have the fantastic elements like Clayface, Croc, even Ra's again and not keep it gritty. I think they'll go with an amalgam of 'armor-looking' suit, but not full-on nolan retread. don't ask me how haha, but that's what i think.

I really like that no. 1 from majik's posting(and cryptic names post) I just think they can do something different with the bat ensignia coloring.

They won't use spandex for the Batman costume...Perhaps something, more detailed. But nothing as basic as that.

I just meant a gray material over the armor, not necessarily spandex and spandex only or at all. I
just meant maybe some gray material over the armor to make it look more like the comic but at the
same time giving the actor and Batman more bulk and explaining in the movie why Batman can
take such punishment and do things like leaping from a two story building without getting hurt
much. Jim Lee had this idea when he started on Hush and did a sketch which I posted here,
showing the armor under Batman's costume. But i agree, not spandex but some material over. It
would also give him the look of being another superhero like Flash or Superman. Something more
than human, which if they are going for that idea would show that. But maybe they want a Batman
who seems very human to contrast him with the superhuman JLA.

I was watching a recent episode of Burn Notice where-in Michael's voiceover explains the merits of a basic kevlar vest(and the ones he and Fi were putting on were quite lightweight, thin and easily concealed under street clothes): stops bullets up to .50 cal, stops slashing attacks, easily concealed. It just pissed me off. Because that's literally everything that Nolan claimed the Batsuit did and yet it looked like plate armor.

Why is it with Batman we have to believe it's necessary for him to be encased in hardshell body armor, but Michael Westen can rock a real life kevlar vest under his dress shirt and still get the same protection?

Why the hell isn't Batman sporting a costume made of kevlar, with extra protection around his torso and other vital areas(like perhaps the thighs so as to protect the femural artery?), without it looking like overt armor plating? 20 years and no one has thought to make Batman as practical as his comic book counterpart and... umm, real life law enforcement?

I wouldn't take something a character says on Burn Notice as absolute fact. A bullet from a rifle can still penetrate a thin vest (some .50 cal rounds are designed to penetrate armored vehicles, they would cut through a Kevlar vest like butter), and even if it doesn't break through the Kevlar, the impact alone can shatter your bones. Armor plates still provide stronger protection than a basic vest.

in regards to the eyes. I agree that just lenses over the eyes will take away from the emotion. Or at least, there's no suit that'll change the shape of his eyes to show his expression. I think it'd be cool if he just wore white contact lenses. I feel like bruce would do that to hide his eye color. that'd be super creepy too.

I think it's more about a look. The thin vest under a traditional comic batsuit would kinda ruin that skintight look and conceal his physique. The real reason armor was used in the first place was to maintain that muscular torso while depicting something sturdier that you could believe would protect him. The problem is they've gotten stuck in this frame of mind from 1989 and haven't realized you can accomplish the same thing with different materials. I, once again, point to the Avengers Cap uniform.

It's plenty factual, in a basic overview kind of way.

1) You don't need any kind of explanation for Batman's costume and the protective measures built into it.
2) If you really need to say something using a bit of stretching the truth goes a long way. There's absolutely no need for armor plates the like of the TDK Batsuit or even the whole shebang of the BB suit.

As cryptic points out, and I've been a big supporter of this especially since someone made a REALLY nice manip, the Cap suit is perfectly adequate at depicting a fully functional costume that conveys a protective aura while looking like Cap's comic book uniform and something reasonably functional as a military outfit with the presumption of some sort of body armor build in. The manip of that outfit turned fully Batman is an amazing example of how it could and probably should be done in the next incarnation of Batman on screen.

If WB/DC go with a grey/black Batsuit in the next Bat-film, they should go with something similar to the New 52 Batsuit.

I feel that this is where reality screws with things. You really wouldn't want that black on the actual suit and it ignores that there is light and bounces of objects and what not.

But I love the original render. I would prefer that the Bat symbol be much larger. It's what I dislike about the TDK suit. Also that grey would work to bridge the gap between the comic but still be functional(minus those lights). I'm kinda feeling a MGS like suit would be appropriate for Batman.

Also I don't think lenses are really ever going to work. They worked with Daredevil because it plays up the idea of he character being blind. It's the removal of humanity. With Batman, you wanna enhance his humanity for the movies. The comics can just cheat so much, they can manipulate the size and length of the eyes. They can shorten, get bigger, or even close. It would look great for those moments but look stupid when he's not threatening anyone.

Instead of lenses built into the suit, why not just put in white contacts?
