david yates would be really awesome, but I think he's a little high profile for marvel, they usually go for lesser-known directors.

I think they should go for a bigger name than the others when it comes to guardians.

Has Garth Jennings been suggested? He could do great things with GotG.

Vadim Jean would be a perfect match too.

Time to ground guardians of the GALAXY in reality.. Bring on the Nolan......-enter sarcasm here-

In all seriousness, I know this TV show fell flat (mainly do to the writing team imho) But any of the producing team from the Terra Nova show (that isn't spielberg cause he won't do it I don't think) should be looked at. Will they? Probably not.. but to throw out a couple would be Brannon Braga -who did 3 of Star Trek series going back to '90 and Rene Echevarria who ironically also has done star trek, but more recently the 4400(which i loved) as well as Castle and Medium.

J. J. Abrams would be perfect (if Marvel could get him) because he's shown he can do ensemble, as well as great action scenes set in space ("Star Trek").

Visually I think Del Toro would do an amazing job with the aliens and the galactic tone, although like Abrams, he's perhaps too well-known.

Duncan Jones is another good director, who likewise has experience with space scenes ("Moon").

Other than those three, I wouldn't mind Andrew Adamson (I LOVED the first two Narnia movies, and he's done other-wordly creatures/worlds in those, as well as ensemble) or Toby Haynes (bit of a random choice, as he's not done film, but he has directed four or five amazing episodes of Doctor Who, which have all had a very cinematic feel to them, and so he knows how to do story-telling in space).

I can see them picking someone completely from left field as Marvel usually does. Watch it be someone like Benh Zeitlin (Beasts of the Southern Wild).

Why in the world would any sane person suggest Brannon Braga? Yeah, he worked on three different Star Trek shows, but two of them were horrifically bad. He's widely credited with KILLING the Star Trek franchise. That's not somebody you hire to start a new successful franchise.

Wait for it....Bill Paxton. Can direct and already has a previous relationship with Disney. It's left field but he gets pulp and what's enjoyable about but is also an acotr's director.

It's a director discussion. So I threw some names out there. That's why.

But he's not even a director, he's a writer, and he's absolutely terrible at that.

Lol, then the name of this thread should be the Official Director's Only Discussion thread.

I don't care that you **** on my post, but I didn't know it was impossible for non-directors not to be suggested nor for them to ever get the chance to direct a movie.. I'll keep this in mind for any future suggestion in future director threads...........

I wonder if they'd go after a Big Whig like Ridley Scott who is established in Sci-Fi/Space stuff.. I am sure the Prometheus sequel will prevent anything to actually happened, but it would not hurt to at least make a general inquiry.

I'm just dumbfounded that you named him of all people, especially since he's never directed a thing. Obviously people who've never directed would eventually get the chance to direct to get experience. A big budget film, though, is not the place for them to get their practice. Hell, does he even know anything at all about directing?

Besides that, the man's a hack. With only a few rare exceptions, he's produced some of the most awful television I've ever had the misfortune to sit through. He and Rick Berman ran Star Trek into the ground and it took a total reboot of the franchise to bring it back, so why would anyone wish that on any intellectual property they'd like to see turn into a successful film franchise? I mean, what're you, his cousin or something? Because I can't imagine anyone wanting Brannon Bragga of all people to have anything to do with this or any other film unless they're his cousin, friend, agent, whatever.

Lol. I'm sure I won't be the last person to suggest someone director, or otherwise that someone else won't agree with.

Also, No I'm not related to him, or anyone famous that I know of. Anyway, It's all good. I've said my piece and have since suggested Ridley Scott. Our little quip, to me, is henceforth done. Time to move on.

Interesting how WB look at a stable of guys who have made money for them, where as Marvel look for the right guy for the material, regardless of what they've worked on before.

How about Jack Bender as a Marvel choice? Capable of pretty cinematic stuff on LOST and has dropped out of the Jack Ryan picture.
