Thing is it's quite easy to use a proxy to get around that.

Kevin Durand as Drax though? Hell yeah, he would be amazing as Drax.
What about Terry Crews? I think both Terry and Kevin Durand would do great jobs as Drax.

I aslo hope they don't tone down his strength too much, I think should atleast be stronger than IM.

"Drax shouldn't be played by a black guy because Drax isn't a black guy and also Marvel'd just load the film down with the hippity-hop music."

a.k.a. nonsensical ALL CAPS rant by either a particularly stupid 12-year old, or a really sad excuse for a grown human being.

I hope Drax is played by an old white woman so we can get "Bibbity bobbity boo" music.

Pretty sure Durand isn't for Drax. Didn't they say that he is for an unknown role?

Hemsworth is close to 6 4.

Durand is 6'6, he's a big ass guy. He's played villains before.

If he is in the running for anything, it's for Thanos. Bank on it.

I think that could work.

If Durand is up for a role it would be for either Richard Rider or Adam Warlock/Magus.

Well, unknown as in "we weren't told who he tested for"

And he'll nail it better than anyone else ever could, that includes Meryl Streep & John Krasinski.

All this hip hop talk has me thinking. Will Smith for Drax. He can sing the theme too.

Gunn addresses a question about the Momoa/Drax rumor:

When someone does a screentest for a movie, do they do deal, and then screentest for a movie with the deal already in place, like actors do for a TV pilot, or do they screentest, you see if you like them, and then you make a deal with them?
"I think they can do either, but I've only ever done screen tests with people when they already have a deal in place."

More than anything else that lends credence to the people to never bought into the "Momoa is trying to get more money" rumor. No one would try to renegotiate a deal that they had just agreed to. That would guarantee you don't get auditions anymore.

Also, casting is taking place in the UK.

Arthur Douglas was an older white man before Thanos and his intergalactic thugs blew him and his wife away. Mentor and Kronos then turned him into a big, green humanoid of indeterminate age when they resurrected him.

Why they chose green is beyond me. Too many green peeps around. Drax, Gamora, Hulk, the Skrulls, the Badoon -- all the freaky mutated folks and aliens in the MCU are too matchy-matchy for my taste.

Perhaps, Momoa should think about taking a low guaranteed compensation for the first movie but a much bigger comp for the second movie....and also points on the gross revenue above a certain level. Like, taking 1% of worldwide boxoffice after $500M.
