not to mention the fact that he's basically Green Lantern with a slightly cooler costume.

Yeah, after YEARS of reading Nova in the comics, you're the first person I've ever seen who thought of that. Seems to me like it's more a personal problem for you than anything else.

lol. I love Rich, great character. But if you think I'm "the first person to think of" that, I don't really know what to say. It's been a joke forever, and this is while Nova's remained a minor, obscure character/

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, are offended, or both.

Thor has nothing to do with this fight. Hulkbuster Iron Man will be too slow for the Human Rocket. From Nova's speed building up force combined with his gravimetric pulse, he can tear through Hulkbuster Iron Man with little problem.

Now if your saying, the Rider they present in the MCU is just the Rookie Nova then the same will have to apply to Iron Man in regards to his current presents in the MCU; Iron Man doesn't have his Hulkbuster Suit yet.

Therefore in the current MCU, Iron Man vs Rookie Rider, Iron Man might win BUT the match up said, "Nova vs Iron Man" therefore I'm taking the angle, 'how will the fight go if both were in their prime and prepared?" Rider as Nova Prime would win.

It's funny cuz at NYC Comic Con this year, the writers to the new Nova issues coming out in Feb said that Rider is dead.

Its not just regeneration, Gamora is fairly bricky, too, depending on the era. The recent incarnation did things like survive hits from Ronan the Accuser and keep fighting; that goes well beyond what Wolverine-style regeneration can do.

In some issue of Warlock and the Infinity Watch, Adam clearly states that Gamora is roughly the physical equivalent of Iron Man in terms of strength and "brickiness". She's flung the 480 lb Ronan about a half a mile one handed, and knocked out She-Hulk during the Infinity Saga with ease.

She's basically She-Hulk with Black Widow level skill.

I said "you're the first person I've ever seen." Never before have I ever seen anyone else make that connection. Nor have I ever heard anyone make the claim that that's why Nova is an obscure character. Nova's become pretty popular among comic readers in recent years, and never until this thread have I ever seen anyone make the claim that they had a problem with him because of his name. So yeah, I'm going to call BS on this. I don't think anyone particularly cares that his name is Richard Rider, or that the majority of people who hear that name instantly come to that conclusion. I certainly never did, and neither has anyone I've known.

In an interview about his new GotG book, Bendis talks about working on the movie...

Quote:
Marvel.com: Brian, Steve, you guys have been working on GUARDIANS for a really long time. When did it first start, and how did it come about?

Brian Michael Bendis: I work with the Marvel Creative Committee on the movies, and this is one of the projects that we’ve been helping out with since the beginning. So, in the context of that, I was doing a lot of re-reading and research, and research of course means reading a lot of comics! I’d read all the [Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning] stuff, and I’d read a bunch of the older stuff. Just as a fan, just as reading, not as a writer thinking about the characters much or anything.
We were talking about the characters, what they want and their reliability. I dug up some of their origin stories, particularly Peter Quill’s origin story, which as I tweeted recently I had come across, and decided that it was, for my money, as good as Superman or Spider-man’s origin—it was just no one knew it! It was literally a two-page story in MARVEL PREMIERE about 34 years ago, and I just really really liked it. As the movie was getting closer, and more drafts were coming in, they called me and said “Listen, you were so excited during the Guardians movie calls, we need to get this book back in the public eye. We really want to make it more a part of the Marvel Universe.”
He also talks a ton about making them the "Cosmic Avengers" in his book, and tying them into the Avengers franchise.

Speaking as a 46-year old longtime comics fan, I can safely attest to the "Dick Rider" jokes being at least as old as the 1980s.

And another tidbit from that Bendis interview - sounds like the Chitauri are coming to the main Marvel U and Bendis wants to make them and the Badoon as big as the Kree and the Skrulls.

It's Bendis so even if (when) it's written terribly it's here to stay.

And I think it gives us an idea of what races they want to use in the movies.

I see no problem with bringing the Chitauri to 616, but like you guys said, Bendis is what's going to make it suck.

From the Bendis Interview...

Quote:
And then Drax has a very complicated back-story. But going forward, were going to be dealing with Drax, who also has a ferocious connection to Thanos. He has ferocious passions about what is right and what is wrong, and I kind of like to say that hes got the power of the Hulk with the mindset of Captain America, and that makes him very special going forward.
Is that a power upgrade for Drax?

More like a return to form. Classic Drax was about as strong as the Hulk, in addition to being able to fly and having energy blasts.

He was basically a combo of Savage Hulk and Superman.
