Yeah, it was good. In fact, people complained that he upstaged Superman as the most likeable guy in the movie.

i'm pulling for the Piemaker!! come on Pace! (all good choices though)

Huston seems like he could be a good replacement for stark one day.

seems pretty likely they'll probly select Quill, Adam, and Nova (if in movie) from this pool of actors

at first i was going to say Huston would be great for Quill, he's arguably the best actor on Boardwalk Empire, but that Stark casting is genius

he'd be perfect after RDJ decides to hang it up

Anybody but Marsden.

He's already Cyclops. And he was in SuperMan Returns.

I don't really wish to see an actor plays two different Marvel characters.

Chris Evans is an exception. He can pull it off....besides the Fantastic Four movies weren't that great and doesn't have a huge impact or following like the X men movies

although Evans's performance as Johnny Storm is one of the best thing about the Fantastic Four movies.

Marsden is kinda too pretty frat boy looking. I had a hard time picturing him as a tough leading man in a superhero movie.

Oh and I did laugh more than once at Marsden's turn in Death at a Funeral. Man, ive been there...

Seriously tho, Im kinda bummed they arent looking at older actors for Quill. So much for Olyphaunt.

Edgerton would be best. Not only would he be wonderful in the role, but there'd probably be a tiny bit more recognition with him. Anyway, my vote is Edgerton.

Yeah, Edgerton for the win with me. These are all good choices but Edgerton really strikes a chord with me. I can see him leading this team of misfits. Plus he won't be seen as Captain America/Chris Evans: Space Edition.

I was going to mention his role in Death at a Funeral, as well as his role in Enchanted. He's not bland in the slightest, especially with the right role.

Hes been bland in everything but light comedy. Actually hes bland in the comedies too, but his character often makes fun of this fact - the cute menschy white boy - so it works (sometimes). But hes not a serious leading man, despite his good looks, and any role that required him to be tough hes failed at. Maybe he'll be more plausible in action/drama roles as he approaches his mid-forties, who knows.

Edgerton is older than I thought. Not a bad choice. To me, anything below 35 is too young. But acting quality and gravitas are they key, not age.

It would have to be Edgerton for me, thought he was great in The Thing 2011, one of the best things about the movie, and his voice in that was perfect for Star-Lord IMO.

Jack Huston is from the Huston acting dynasty. His Uncle and Aunt are Anjelica and Danny Huston. Grandfather is legenadry director John Huston.

His a pretty good actor and unlike other actors from famous familes he hasn't used nepotism to bag himself roles.

Yeah he was rumored to be testing for Harry.

Eddie Redmayne played Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie's son in The Good Shepard. Plays Julianne Moores son in Savage Grace as well.

Actually, it was offensive. It's possible to like an actor without being sexually attracted to him or her. Or do you think that everyone here who expressed positive opinions about Marsden is "a girl (WTF?) or gay"? Because I think there are several people who might take issue with that.

Average age: 32.875.

Star-Lord is 32 in the comics.

Of course its possible, genius. And since I think Marsden is only an above average actor, with many more failures than successes on his resume, and would be completely miscast in any role that could be described as "tough" or "badass", I can handle those who disagree being "offended" that I question their judgment.

As long as you're not suggesting that I'm homophobic, I am perfectly okay with "offending" the fanboys who have a such a peculiar and SPECIFIC man-crush with an actor who, by any honest measure, never really panned out. I think they can handle the jibes.

Its an incontrovertible fact that Marsden's #1 asset is his looks. Same goes for Depp, Pitt and many others. Difference is, they're much better at all the other stuff that goes into being an actor/leadingman/moviestar. I think sometimes, fanboys can glom onto certain actors because they "look" like the action figures from the comic, ie generically handsome. Its easy for them to plug in said actor to the uniform/costume. This applies double to female casting of course.

And totally a FREE PASS on the age thing. For me its late 30's to early 40's but they should just screen-test the hell out of this until the best person emerges.

Of all the MCU properties, Marvel has the most freedom to do whatever they want with GotG, for obvious reasons. Specific ages of the characters will be changed at will, as will their backstories and - to some extent - appearances. This is a good thing btw. To Mr. Gunn I say: GO NUTS!
