I'd say if there was one think I found "disappointing", and it's VERY minor indeed, it would be we didn't get to see the burlap mask from Crane. I couldn't figure out why we didn't see him put it on at least once...maybe when he was handing down a sentence.

Then I started to think...Nolan doesn't do anything without a reason. Surely, there was a reason he didn't want Crane to wear the Scarecrow mask.

I came up with a theory (just for fun, really). Crane primarily put on the Scarecrow mask to instill fear in others. By the time Bane takes over and Gotham is ruled by martial law, the citizens all live in fear. Therefore, he retired the mask because it was no longer necessary. His dream of a Gotham City in fear was fully realized.

Just as Batman would retire his mask when his job was done.

heya guys, new member here and big fan of Bats and Nolan interpretation character, been reading this thread for a while and can't resist to supply something helpful to the cause. Hehehehe.

Just read pages of The Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy (super recomended for the people who loved Nolan Bats and behind the story of it), and yes in the book it said that Nolan actually didn't like Scarecrow's mask and told Goyer to find reason for Crane to wears it. And finally they make it as protection for Crane from inhaling his own toxin and to scare his victims. Since in TDKR, he didn't need his toxin (at least in his scenes) hence there is no reason for him to put the mask.

Atom, if you read the screenplay (which i just finished yesterday), he did the 2nd climb at day, fall and unconcious, wake up after seeing his father's memory and speak with doc at night. And he start the last climb the next day. Great things about reading screenplay is they write the information for time and location.

He was most likely back in Gotham days before. Every clue he left Fox, Blake, Gordon had to be taken care of first. Who knows what else. You have to think logically. The guy was probably exhausted beyond belief when he arrived at Wayne Manor, which is where i assume he went first. Who knows if he has proper transportation to get into the main part of the city after that, and how careful he had to be to avoid Banes men while doing so. It's probably a few days.

Its the fact that he makes his appearance to Selina with like a day left to act.

It was just a little contrived.

Yep, like ur interpretation too but what i post before was from the book and i believe Nolan sees this this is from technical stand point, i take this as in the function for Cranw, physically.

Worst line in the whole trilogy. It's like the writers just couldn't be arsed putting any thought into Batman's reply there.

Yet nobody has come up with a better one yet!! It doesn't seem an easy one despite all the criticism it gets, as justified as it may be.

Keaton's Batman woulda said, "I came to bury you".Lol. It would have been totally against of character for Bale's Bat , but it woulda been bad ass..Lol.

Actually, its picking on the screenwriter.Lol. Its no big deal. I actually think the film has some pretty good dialog in it. Bane's speech in the pit is actually one of my favorites of the trilogy. I think its actually better then his dialog in the first fight with Batman which comes off as kinda comic bookie to me at least.

Haven't seen a better line for that scene either. I love it when people criticize or ridicule something, but have no ideas for improvement or replacement of what they criticized.

Bats comeback line is fine IMO. It's straight and direct to the point. I think people are just so used to Bane's grandeur OTP speeches so they were expecting something like that from Bats too but that's not how Bats roll.

The line IS lame. It reeks of DUH!, thanks Captain Obvious. I'm no writer, but I think something as simple as this would have been better:

Bane: "So you came back to die with your city."

Batman: "No, I came back to end this madness, once and for all"

That ties back nicely to Begins and the concept of going full circle when Batman tells Ra's "It ends tonight."

He should have just said "Where's the trigger?" in a typical Batman fashion (like TDK to Joker "Where's the detonator?").

Then Bane could've said something like "It's far too late for that". Commence fighting and the rest is done. Not like it really matters anyway.

He coulda said something like "No, I came to stand between you and the people of Gotham" like BB to Ràs. Or "No, I came to show you not everyone is afraid." actually, the more I think about it the better the original line sounds haha.

I guess so.Lol. I guess she'd take the poker stick from the fire place and try to run Bruce through with it . Even then , she'd probably be a bit peeved that Bane couldn't do the job right even after all the trouble they'd gone through. Lol. She probably say , "I knew father was right..."
