I'm guessing you have an HDMI cable lol but if you don't, outside of what you already mentioned that's all you need aside from the actual hardware. I'm pretty sure all graphics cards now have an HDMI port, so if you don't mind using the TV speakers for sound you're set. Aaand I figure it goes without saying but stick with Windows 7 for now. Are you picking out parts yourself or going with a pre-built system?

Have loads of HDMI leads but not sure if I have spare mice/keyboards. All the ones I have are linked to current desktops that I'm not intending to bin. Downstairs I have a home theater system so can I plug the pc directly into that by HDMI and it will separate out sound to speakers & video to TV/projector?

Was actually thinking of Windows 8 (sorry ). Is that hard to integrate or are you saying that 'cause it's crap?

I kind of have a rule about finishing campaigns at least on easiest difficulty & ignoring all side quests if necessary. I'm sure this isn't as bad as some of the games I broke that rule for. Well, I hope.....

Yup, those are all parts people picked out themselves. It's the best way to go coz you know exactly what's going in your system and it's cheaper. If there's a tech store in your area you can probably buy all the parts there. It's really easy to put together a computer, just plug and play essentially, but if you do buy from a store they might offer to put it together for you for a price.

I don't know much about projectors but yeah, HDMI is great coz it's able to output video and audio. You shouldn't need anything extra as far as I know. For gaming there are a ton of options out there but a basic mouse and keyboard should be fine. Aaand since you're hopping into PC gaming, I think you should look into a cool mini-keyboard with programmable keys. There are two that I know of, the Razer Nostromo and Logitech G13. I have a Nostromo and it feels a lot better than using a whole keyboard.

No need to apologize for wanting Windows 8. It's just that Windows 7 is more stable and from what I've read you'll spend a bit of time trying to get it to function like 7 anyway. Besides, the quality of Windows always skips a generation.

Anyone do Cyber Monday last year? What games did you get? I'm heavily thinking of bypassing the Black Friday crowd altogether and just shopping online. Wal-mart has some sick deals early, but I want to do all my shopping online this year.

Whoa, I guess someone's in a hurry to lose more money. I'll definitely be playing it, though. I loved the first game--well, about 2/3rds of the first game, before it became less a platformer and more a shooter but never bothered to fix its terrible shooting mechanics.

Those minis are just extra. If you don't change any keys they're set as the left side of the keyboard lol, they're good for use outside of gaming though. You can assign keyboard shortcuts and stuff to buttons so I use mine to login/logout of my computer, copy/paste and a couple other little time savers.

Thanks. Looking forward to it. Think I'll try the hi-spec keyboard/mouse thing although it's gonna feel weird after all these years with a controller.

I need to get a game that really tests the system. Will be good to also compare it against a console equivalent. The difference should really show up on a projector.
