I've never understood the hate for SMG. In Buffy I thought she pulled off everything that was demanded of her admirably and showed a great deal of range over the course of the series. I certainly don't think that she showed anything less than Fillion did over the course of Firefly, and I've never seen Smulders display the same range as Gellar in Buffy. Although, I've only seen her in a sitcom and limited capacity in the Avengers.

SMG was perfectly cast for the role, and Whedon et al gave her some great material over the years. Like Dushku though, she's not a great actress by any stretch. Her entire non-buffy resume proves this.

She may not have realized it at the time, but Buffy was the role of a lifetime for her. Shes been completely forgettable in her other work, including those roles that were the result of typecasting (Scooby, the Grudge).

Fillion has much more range as an actor, and has proven he can carry two very different tv shows and has had success in a variety of film roles. Theres simply no comparison.

All that said, I actually find her quite appealing, and I think developed into a decent actress by the end of Buffy's run. She could have an interesting career now that she's in the "grown up" phase of her life. I heard she was pretty good on that show that was cancelled recently. Maybe she needs to try some ensemble projects, rather than the lead on inferior shows and movies.

Neither here nor there, but by her own admission, her "no nudity" clause has limited her film opportunities post-Buffy. So it goes.

I don't get the Geller hate, either, but most of it seems to stem from some fans' belief that she had a falling out with Whedon and/or didn't appreciate her role on BtVS. It goes along the lines of, "You may or may not have dissed the Great Joss and his works? Die, *****!" Which if you think Buffy was the height of storytelling would probably make some sort of sense.

I heard about this. I'm pretty interested how this is gonna turn out. I also love to see the actual Avengers cast to do the roles. But its a slim possibility.

Why not? It's a perfect way to bring him back other then that anything else is going to be cheesy.
Shield has the tech to save all of his memory patterns.
And if he was completely bald I can see it.
I say Coulsen for Vision why miss the opputunity Vision came about from a dead guy anyway.

Gellar is the best female lead from any of Whedon's shows. Only Acker has as much range as her.

Whedon has already said that the S.H.I.E.L.D. series will stand alone, so we probably won't see any Avengers cameos. That would cost a boatload of money, anyway.

I think Acker and Olivia Williams are the most talented actresses who've been major characters in Whedon productions, but I agree that SMG is still one of the better ones...certainly better than Dushku and Carpenter, anyway. She delivered one hell of a performance in those 7 years on BTVS, but she IS very hit-or-miss with other characters. Acker's had 3 different characters on Whedon shows, each played brilliantly, and hardly even recognizable from each other. Her performance on Person of Interest (as yet another completely different type of character) has been great as well. And Olivia Williams has had some fantastic roles in the movies, lately, imo.

If there's one Whedon-alum I would love to see in SHIELD, it would be Acker.

I hope that Whedon doesn't cast any of his usual suspects in the SHIELD show. Turn the page, move on, get some fresh talent in there. So far he hasn't chosen a single one of the old FOJs, so that's good.

Its not likely for Joss to cast any of his familiars in a lead role(Firefly had all new actors, Dollhouse was made up of all new actors except for Dushku and thats because the show was made BECAUSE of her, and I'm not counting Angel cause its a spin off) but it is very likely that some familiars(Acker, Glau, possibly Denisof) will be cast in guest star roles. I don't see many showing up though. The majority of his Buffy cast has been MIA from anything he's done the last 10 years. I would kill for a James Marsters as villain guest role.

C'mon I know what your saying but has anyone really been anyone in the movies.
All I'm saying is that Vision is really a component of a dead person therefore this will really tie in nicely.
Sure it's not Simon Williams but so what????
Have they followed the continuity of comics the way it should be.
In all actuality Vision is one they could take that liberty with as long as the concept is the same.

You can't have Vision created by anyone except Ultron.
You can't have Ultron created by anyone except Hank Pym.
You can't have Hank Pym until Edgar Wright gets off his ass and makes his movie.

Coulson =/= Vision. Not even remotely the same character arc.

Yeah, people he's worked with before will most likely pop up in guest/recurring bits.

Not counting Cabin in the Woods, The Avengers is the only thing he's used one of his usual suspects, and you couldn't even tell that it was Denisof.
