I've been thinking about how stupid that "you knew about Tatetalia beforehand, thats why you didnt like her in the movie" argument while watching Doctor Who last week.
Much like the whole Tate situation, I knew a certain attractive female character would be revealed to have a sinister identity before I watched the episode. But unlike in TDKR, the Dr. Who episode had me actually caring about the character in question, so when the twist came, it didnt matter if I knew it or not, because it was still awesome. Wish I could say the same for Tatetalia. And whoever said Marion would've been a perfect Talia in another film is spot on. |

IMO, the only thing that sucked about Talia in TDKR was her post reveal. Had she not died immediately after she was revealed to be the daughter of Ra's Al Ghul, I think her character would have been solid.

Not a fan of the hair either, but I liked the dress and her make up is divine.

I think some of the complainings around Talia (and Marion's performance) has been very unfair.
I think when people cool off, they'll appreciate it better. I enjoyed transformation from insignificant & good hearted Miranda to cruel & boss Talia a lot after 2nd time. That's far from weak performance.

Yeah, they do bear a resemblance. Both pretty, though in a different way.

I saw that thread saying Blake was the root of TDKR's problems. It's the whole damn story/script that is bad and Blake is the only character done right (until the end)!!!!!! Can't believe they were paid to write this thing ![]() Everytime I think about it a little I don't understand! |

She looks a bit like Lizzy Caplan. But c'mon why this need to compare her to another girl? :S she's got a unique beauty.

Never noticed it before. They could definitely play sisters.

She did fine with what she was given. She didn't have a lot of screentime.
"Generic and mediocre performance"...?? Why does every actor have to give an unbelievable performance? There needs to be balance in every movie. I can't name a single movie where every character, big or small, stole the show with their performances. You need balance for scenes, it's not excuses for Marion, it's just the way it is. Not every cast member delivers a grade A performance. She's been more enthusiastic in other roles, this one just didnt require it. She was solid at best and that's all i could ask for when you have such charasmatic actors like Hardy and Bale. The one scene where she stole the show was during the reveal. She was great in that. If people disagree, i can't help you with that, all i care about is i enjoyed Marion on screen. But for the rest, she did a fine job at just being there. That seemed to be the point, to just be there, not stealing a scene or getting noticed or putting too much focus on HER. When she needed to be a bit suspicious but nothing huge so you shrug it off the next second and feel like she's just a board member...she did it. When she needed to be helpful, she did it. When she needed to be snobby but harmless, she did it. When she needed to be a huge ***** who was a selfish tramp..she did it. People are over-reacting. If you feel this movie could have used more Talia, fine. That's your preference. I respect that, but it's not mine. If you feel like her death scene was the worst of all time, fine, i dont think it was that good, but the worst? Ive seen MUCH worse. Im not moaning about it. Again....every movie has some little acting "nitpick". And last, if you feel like her other scenes weren't performed to your standards, that's fine too. But once again, i thought she did the rest of her scenes nicely.

So here's a fun little puzzle...I was just reading an interview of hers from Toronto and was intrigued by this quote:
Quote:
Any guesses on what that movie could be? My first thought was "Snow White and the Huntsman," since that was a summer blockbuster with an inexperienced director, but then I figured it was unlikely they'd go after her for either significant female role in that movie in the first place. Plus, it wasn't that successful. It's gotta be something that came out within the last 3 years or so, as I doubt she would have been getting these kinds of offers before that. The only French character in a recent blockbuster that immediately comes to mind for me is Lea Seydoux's character in M:I-4. But I'd be shocked to think she'd describe that movie as "so bad," or that Brad Bird would show such little interest in his actors, even if it was his first live-action film. The acting was pretty on-point in that, I thought.

About the same time as TDKR I think?
Another one I thought of was Wrath of the Titans. |

She signed on for TDKR in February 2011 but her reps had to pretend it didn't happen until the press release came out in April.
Sticking solely to WB films: What about Noomi Rapace's role in WB's Game of Shadows? A French gypsy. Cotillard described herself as a gypsy in that article. Rapace signed on in early September 2010. Marion was pregnant by late August 2010. Maybe there was an offer on the table before Rapace? I'll keep digging. It had mediocre reviews. http://news-briefs.ew.com/2010/09/11...lock-holmes-2/ As for WB's Wrath of the Titans http://www.deadline.com/2011/02/rosa...-the-titans-2/ Rosamund Pike signed on in February 2011 (at the latest), and filming began in March, so I don't think it fits the timeline in my head, anyway. Her pregnancy would have probably been in the way of even an earlier offer. OTOH, Marion looks more like Alexa Davalos, who was replaced in the film. But how could anyone have expected the sequel to be any good? Possibility: WB's Unknown. Made over a 100 mil. She is the same age as Diane Kruger (who coincidentally used to be married to Marion's boyfriend), and it's based on a French novel. It had mediocre critical reception. For some reason, I can't even imagining WB offering her a recast role in Wrath of the Titans (especially when the previous actress was a Brit), but I suppose stranger things have happened. As for Unknown, I don't think she'd call that a "huge, big American movie" that all of her friends would think she was crazy to turn down.
