That's the key point. As long as I can make the leap of faith that Fox will decide to invest what they need to, sure, they're just as capable as anyone of making a kick-ass film.

But Fox has shown a history of not treating comic book properties like 'real films'. They take short cuts and try to suck the money out of the dedicated fans without investing the way other studios have chosen to.

It seems that I may have no choice but to wait and hope Fox has seen the errors of their ways, but if I had anything to say about it, I'd rather have a studio that has shown the proper dedication to these properties take charge.

Well to be fair Fox did treat X-Men First Class like a real movie, I thought it was the best comic book movie of 2011. Also Fox did make a great Planet of the Apes movie recently, so I think they have gotten better at making movies.

the skeptics don't think fox "makes bad movies" but they do think fox has a bad track record with SUPERHERO/COMIC movies...

Without Fox making X-Men, we probably wouldn't have superhero movies.

I think I have two great casting choices that would help elevate this film: Keanu reaves as Reed and Gerard butler as Namor. I think they'd both be great in those roles and give this film enough star cred without costing too much in actors salaries. Whaddaya

And? Its great for its time, but we live in a world now where the characters don't have to wear black leather, and don't need to be shells of their comic counter parts...

Its like if donners Superman came out today.... Its great for what it was then, and what it did. But ltd be laughed at and panned if released today

First Class may have been treated well as a film, although I didn't think it was even that good a movie, but as a comic book movie it STILL sucks. After so many attempts you'd think FOX would get that people actually want to see what's in the comics on the big screen. Maybe The Avengers and the fact that so many people want their properties to revert back to MS taught them a lesson.

Except they did make a great X-Men movie just last year, so they have made some good super hero movies.

Why? Reaves looks like a Kirby drawing come to life and the emotionless deadpan delivery that would be right for Reed. Butler has the acting chops and look to pull off Namor. Both are well known to the genre (matrix, 300). What's not to like?

sorry but i prefer good movie than movies that look like the pages of a comic

Then why base them on the characters they end up being nothing like? Im not asking for watchmen accuracy.... Im asking for the spirit of the characters to still be their while still maintaining a great and interesting story. Even better if they showcase a few story elements from the books. (like singer did with stryker .

No one wants to see there favorite characters nutured for the sake of a story... Like Iceman , Rogue, juggernaut, cyclops , phoenix, storm, colossus , Emma frost, (x1s sabertooth), gambit, mastermind , deadpool, death strike, angel, psylocke, calisto , havok , banshee , Darwin, moira etc.... Were.

The only characters improved upon in the Xmen movies were stryker , toad, pyro , and mystique......

How does First Class suck? I thought it was really good. I liked it better then Thor and way better then Captain America. Does it suck because its not exactly like the comics? Considering how convoluted X-Men continuity is, that is not surprising. While First Class wasn't a true to the letter adaption of the X-Men, it was true to the spirit of the X-Men. I would rather have a good film that is accessible to the general public, then have a film that engages in continuity porn and geeky fan service just to appeal to die hard fans.
