pasting this from former thread since we had a nice convo going..

It was Thor realizing the consequences his actions had on others, including his loved ones. The Thor that tries to take back the hammer the first time has learned nothing. It was the false news of his father's passing that kicked it into gear. It was there that he started to realize how much more the people he cares for mean in comparison to himself. It is Thor's passage to manhood. Learning the lessons his father has been trying to teach him. That is what is at the heart of the film, which is very much a father and sons story. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- wow, great points.. that might be the perfect synopsis of Thor ever. But I still think, from the film standpoint he wouldn't have gotten there without Jane. But you've nearly convinced me otherwise Darth. The Hammer + Loki saying Odin died scene almost slipped my mind and it is for sure where he realizes who he was and who he needs to be. It does seem to me that they are playing Jane to be a major factor in this movie though, and whether she lives or dies, I still think she is essentially his bridge to Midgard in context of the movies at least. Another factor to me, even though it was almost a throwaway scene was that the first person he asked about when 'securing' Loki was Jane, he wanted to make sure that she was safe first and foremost. I'm okay with whatever way they go with this next Thor movie, because if Jane dies he's going to want to protect earth even more, and if she's alive and well he's still going to want to watch over her, and Earth closely as well.

Agree with Darth, great points.
Imo, Jane was but a mere pretty bauble with which to play while he gained more wisdom and humility to return to Full Thor mode. ![]() Now say I, cast thine bauble aside, good Thor, and embrace The Sif.

We got thread managed.

I think this made clear when Thor is "courting" her. He does not act differently in anyway that is because of her. His sorrow and melancholy is what is effecting his overall mood. It has brought him down a few notches and thus he is more quiet, more reserved, more observant. He is starting to sit back and considering how he effects others. Just think about the cup incident. Thor doesn't break it to be "bad", he breaks it because that is the way things are in Asgard. Once he realizes this isn't how you show your satisfaction on Midgard he stops. But it is only later, after he has started actually considering others and their feelings first and foremost, that he replaces the cup. If anything, it is the Odin situation that allows Thor to even consider Jane for what she is. An attractive young woman.

haha damn dude, I rescind my argument. You've eloquently swayed my mindset in a very proper and articulate way and have therefore earned my respect sir. Many thanks for being a proper gentleman in this discussion and not attacking me with your opinions against my own.. we need more like you on these boards lol
![]() but seriously.. this movie needs to get here sooner than Novemeber, I am in no way spoiling myself to this film like I have with Iron Man, I loved the first Thor film way too much and know nothing about his comic history so I really want to be amazing upon my first viewing.

You to. I takes a lot more to actually read and consider another POV. A lot of the time this place is a conversation between two brick walls, and include myself here. This is quite refreshing. Quote:

But yes the film obviously will explore the Thor/Sif relationship not just cuz of the comics but cuz at the end of the first film she clearly has feelings for him. And in general they want to make comicbook fans happy with exploring their relationship and even the ones who haven't read the comics but ship them anyway. But from the first film i got a brother/sister vibe from them and i separated them from the comics (like what if they were not canon) but they do need to explain Sif's feelings though anyway. I think Thor/Sif would be boring to be honest cuz they're both warriors so they're similar in a way and would suit each other but..... I really like Thor/Jane because they're different and some people might think they don't fit but they could, by good writing and chemistry which for me i felt in the first film but not too much which yes the relationship between them was forced and fast but in the 2nd one they're expanding on their relationship which i like and yes in the comics they were together so it's not like the writers created a fake character for the film and added a fake relationship with Thor. It's the differences between them that makes them more interesting and fun. Heck! alot of people liked Darcy and she's fake created but u no there are some people who dont like that but u cant please everyone. Jane doesn't deserve the hate she's getting cuz plz try to separate the actor from the character cuz that's wat i did and she really doesn't deserve it. She's an amazing character in her own way. She doesnt have to be a warrior or kick butt like Sif for fans to appreciate her. In the comics her memory got wiped cuz she was not worthy of Thor and was taken back to Earth, How horrible is that? and some people are encouraging for that to happen... is beyond me.Who knows, she might kick butt and fight in this but she's her own person and u really don't need to compare her to Sif. The amazing spiderman explored Peter/gwen relationship and they weren't the main canon ship but alots of comicbook and non comicbook fans liked them as a couple so why not for Thor/Jane? I think when Jane gets to Asgard, Odin is obviously gonna have a problem and say she's not worthy but that's what makes it interesting and it really taps into the Thor/Jane relationship more. |

Welcome Aboard Angel! (if I haven't welcomed you already yet. Being the MOD of Thunder has it's disadvantages at times lol)
Yeah I'm wondering if that Lit up table Jane was on, was Sif giving her some of her life-force. Right now, I'm glad it looks like Frigga really liked Jane enough to Guard her, possibilly gave her life for Jane from the looks of the trailer.

The first movie I ever spoiled myself on was Avengers, I looked at a decent amount of spoilers for it but the only scene that was 'spoiled' for me was Hulk catching Tony thanks to the trailers and everything else was new to me, but on the other hand I looked at no spoilers for Dark Knight Rises and absolutely loved nearly every minute of it, including the Talia 'twist' if you want to call it that and had no idea it was coming so I was caught off guard and loved it. Same with Man of Steel, I'm not really big on Superman he's never really interested me so I'm going into that movie with no real knowledge so I'm sure I'm going to love it. And I've spoiled too much of Iron Man 3 for myself (the twist and what not.. just didn't get out of the thread quick enough before that was revealed haha) but since I'm not a comic book guy I don't think it's going to affect my viewing pleasure too much, as reviews from the film seem very positive and I assume 80% of those people don't really know who The Mandarin is. But Thor1 being the Phase 1 movie I enjoyed the most, I really don't want to ruin anything for myself and want to have virgin eyes for the theaters. One thing for sure is I don't want to see Kurse until I see it in person because he seems to be such a cool and powerful as well as intimidating character and I think his scenes will be one of the best parts of the film. I'll probably watch the next few trailers that come out but I don't want to allow myself to know too much of the plot like I did with Iron Man haha. Anyways, essay over lol. TLDR: I enjoy mutual discussion here and try to avoid fights, then went into trying not to spoil movies for myself anymore. Cheers!

New photo of Thor & Odin! Although the idiots who wrote the blurb to accompany it can't tell the difference between TDW and Iron Man 3.

Oops. Sorry. I must remember to look in that thread.
I like that Odin is rocking a plait too. Perhaps they're waiting for the royal hairstylist to turn up? |

I think the table Jane is on, is her coming back to life, cuz if u look, her face looks black (maybe from the Malekith encounter?) and her clothes are different from when she got transport to Asgard and she's acting like she just came back from the dead more like. And if they decided to pair up Thor/Sif I would be fine with it cuz their canon in the comics but i mean their relationship in general and how they would respond to each other and work as a couple but to me there would be no excitement except u no cute talks and probs flirtations goin on there!!

Frigga was in the trailer for like a second but Jane was with her and Frigga had a small sword in her hand (probs from a dark elf or Malekith)

Yesyes, I'm sorry. I just rewatched it and saw her. It was that one second having her standing next to Jane holding a knive right?
This is the second time Frigga gets attacked and all she has to defend herself is a knife? I'd think about hiding a machine gun under the bed if I was her lol. The table looks a lot like an atar, either for a ritual of some kind like giving her powers or whatever or for reviving her. I'm more interested to know the reason why Jane seems to levitate in the battlefield surrounded by dust and blackness... and Thor is kinda upset and hurt about that lol. What do we know about the Darkelfs actually? Is there some kind of dark magic, dark matter that could give someone power or take over Jane? In the comics I haven't read yet, Jane was given godly powers but she wasn't able to deal with it and something happened... I don't think she died though. Did anyone read that part? I'm still stuck in the 60's with my Masterworks lol. |

In the comics Thor took Jane to Asgard to be married but Odin didn't approve so he decided to give Jane powers to be worthy of Thor and Odin put her against this beast or something and she couldn't handle it or more like control her powers so Odin decided she's not worthy and had her memories wiped and transported back to Earth to forget about Thor and everything but after that Odin suggested Thor should be with Sif and it continued on after that i believe. I think it's horrible Jane got her memory wiped and Odin just decided she was not worthy cuz she was human and not a warrior like Sif.

Oh, thanks for that info. I knew something like that must have happened to Jane. Yeah, that's a pretty nasty way to get rid of Thor's girlfriend. What can I say, this is Odin's epic style to deal with people: "You are UNWORTHY! I take away your power and I'll cast you out!" Well, from Odin's point of view we are like... mh... apes, ants, children... who have no idea what true wisdom and power is. I can understand that to some point, but then I think Thor is an adult person (something 4.000 years old) and can decide for his own life.
It sounds cruel. Memories whiped and Thor must have still remembered everything! Heartbreaking. From then on he was just dating Sif and didn't care for Jane any longer? Just like that lol... From the looks of the trailer, it could happen. Jane gets ultimate powers, rather by Malekith than Thor here. She might be used as a vessel for dark powers or whatever and can't deal with it or it gets out of control and *gosh* what if Thor has to kill her to make it stop???? O_O The official announcement of the movie says Thor has to sacrifice everything. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMOGMOG |

actually soon after what happens with Jane's memory being wiped.... Jane and Thor remain separated for sometime until Thor learns that Jane had been manipulated into attempting suicide by an entity known as "Fear" and rushes to her hospital bedside.Sif seeing that Thor still has feelings for Jane, chooses to save Jane's life by merging their life-forces together.Jane is soon separated from Sif and is exiled to a pocket dimension only accessible through the professor runestaff.Thor and Sif eventually rescue Jane and return her to Earth. Upon her return Jane marries her mortal love, Dr. Keith Kincaid. But Thor/Sif are still a couple.
