So have you guys heard about this? I'm surprised no one is talking about this shooting here. It's all over the news.

Conservative, Gay Rights Groups Spar Over Shooting

As authorities revealed details about the Family Research Council shooting, the head of the influential conservative organization blamed the attack on "reckless rhetoric," but then delivered his own politically-charged remark, saying critics gave the accused gunman "a license to shoot an unarmed man."

Tony Perkins' comments Thursday fanned already-inflamed statements from both sides, tapped into deep divisions over abortion and gay marriage, and drew more finger-pointing.

Meanwhile, the accused shooter, Floyd Lee Corkins II, was ordered held without bond on accusations he opened fire a day earlier inside the lobby of the council's headquarters. Corkins, whose parents said he strongly supported gay rights, had a backpack full of Chick-fil-A sandwiches and a box of ammunition when he said words to the effect of "I don't like your politics" and shot a security guard, authorities said.

I voted hurt him in the poll. It won't hurt him in the immediate sense (it will actually help him raise money). It will hurt the party though. Obama's announcement of his support and the DNC's subsequent adoption of the support to their platform will kill House Democrats from more conservative districts. Obama has made it near impossible for the Democrats to retake the House which will hurt his second term, should he receive one.

Had he held that stance, and stated it as such say "at the Saddleback Church Q&A back in 2008, I don't think it would hurt in anyway at this time, he would have gotten booed there for sure.....but I'm doubtful many from that church or those that are extremely conservative in their religion voted for him in 2008 anyway. But the fact that he openly stated then that marriage was between a man and woman? And then changed it at a very deliberate time, AND only after Biden brought it up again......IMO, it hurts him...because in this election....EVERY VOTE will be needed....and even a small turn of certain demographics could end up in a defeat.

It left a bad taste in my mouth, because it showed a certain amount of panic on the part of the Obama campaign and the money situation definitely falling into Romney's corner this time around. To me, it came off as.....yeah, I'll agree with YOU, because I need your money...

Look, under normal circumstances I am about as anti-discrimination as they come. HOWEVER, in this case, the Russian government did the right thing....

Too many straight men were turning gay due to their attraction to Vladimir Putin. Being as Russian population is already declining at a rapid rate, they could not have this. Vladimir Putin is single-handedly siring 1,100 children per week. But it is taking a toll on even him. If discrimination is the only way to make Russian men stop fantasizing about their illustrious leader and start makin' babies, then so be it...for the good of the Motherland!

Effing A. Andrew Shirvell should get a kick in the nuts for even whining about his so-called "First Amendment rights." Bad enough when an idiotic do-nothing windbag like Sarah Palin does it, but when a former AG does it, it's worse. Of all people, he should know that freedom of speech only protects you from the state, not from civil action.

Shirvell claims he's unemployable and has no money now. Good, I hope he has a family too, and can watch them go hungry.

It's quite telling that the usual fundamentalist suspects, like the FRC, FOTF, etc., are conspicuously silent in defending him. No "Andy Shirvell Appreciation Day" for this MFer. His behaviour is so extreme that it's approaching Fred Phelps territory.

I saw Shirvell once in an interview and the guy came across as flaming gay.

I suspect he's got some underlying fixation with Armstrong going on, to be honest.
