it was funny, i was watching Rachel Maddow last night (yeah you can't really get more left than that) but she pretty much confirmed what I think majority of people are noticing.. that the Reps are falling apart. She mentioned how the conservative christian right has always been a part of the party, but it pretty much has taken complete control of the party now that the party is in a bit of a mess. Just found it interesting.

I certainly do not mind these idiots lumping both issues together, because it diminishes their credibility on each one. It reveals their true nature: that the pro-life agenda has nothing to do with human life, it's really about maintaining strict, traditional gender roles and oppressing women.

The whole "legitimate rape" comment is not merely the remarks of a particularly deviant member of the pro-life movement; it is indicative of their overall ideology concerning the rights and roles of women.

agrees. the mere fact that so many male republicans have outright tried to say "you can't get pregnant if you really didn't want it" (saying biologically a woman's body during a "true rape" won't produce a baby) is probably one of the most vile and ignorant things i've ever heard...

and imo.. makes them all sound like they've raped someone in the past oddly enough... and are trying to cover it up and be guilt free! (i know most probably never have obviously, but the way they say that just makes it seem odd... and incredibly creepy)

So do I, and I don't see the contradiction.

But I'm not religious anyway, so maybe that's why neither one bothers me.

But I do call BS on someone like George W. Bush sermonizing about "preserving a culture of life" by opposing abortion, and then starting a war in Iraq under trumped-up pretenses that gets ****ing thousands of guys younger than me killed.

A lot of those guys who died for no ****ing reason in Iraq were individually worth 10,000 of the chickenhawks like Bush and Cheney who dodged harm's way themselves but had no problem sending kids to their deaths.

It's disgusting and they're rightfully war criminals, IMO.

But this is veering way off topic, so I'll just leave it at that.
