Sure the writing for the new Aquaman series is good, but the costume is still basically the same as it always has been.. It does no favors to make Aquaman look cooler in the public eye.
This is too old fashioned

I think the orange shirt/green pants looks better than the old JLA look.

Keep the green pants and go shirtless. That'll get some asses in the seats.

Not all the time, but it helps... And plus I never cared for his costume.

For how I'd like to see Aquaman's costume done.

For the orange fishscale top, I'd combine the torso armor from Immortals, with the chainmail from the Thor costume, as well as the fishscale used on the mermaid tail from Annie Leibovitz photoshoot of Little Mermaid. Possibly going sleeveless at some point.

For the Green pants, I'd combine the material from Amazing Spider-Man, with the same mermaid scales from said photoshoot, as well as the fins.

I can't quite find a good example of how I'd like to see the metallic belt, but I'd like the one from the comics in the pic posted to be used.

I love the image you posted it gives a great visualization of what youre talking about. I can definitely see that looking good if it is obviously armor. Id kinda like a more muted orange honestly though

I wouldn't mute the colors at all simply because of how colorful the ocean and it's creatures are. I'd like it to show in the costume.

I think Aquaman (if including in the movie to begin with) should have armor. Nothing heavy... Maybe just a chestplate. But the short and pants add to the somewhat lack of seriousness people give him.

But what do I know. I know little about fishstick :S

Aquaman should be a deadly warrior with some battle scars on his face/body, but also a noble King and a loving father and husband. It would be cool if the Atlanteans had blue symbols on their skin that glowed when they came into contact with water, similar in appearance to Tron.

Make Aquaman skilled in every type of Atlantean weaponry, and brutal in combat. Have him equipped with his Trident and other Atlantean weapons, including a sword. Show him cracking bones, slicing off limbs/tentacles, beheading enemies, etc. I want to see him in interesting situations like when a creature of the deep eats him and he has to escape before he's digested. He should never be shown riding on dolphins like in that old JL movie script, that would be silly. Show him commanding deep-sea creatures that we've never even seen before. I bet someone like Del Toro could help with that but I'm not sure if I'd want him to direct, producer sounds good though.

I think it should be a mixture of Star Wars and LOTR. Atlantean technology should be advanced; villains like Black Manta should be decked out with sci-fi weaponry, similar in demeanor to Darth Vader and Jango/Boba Fett. They'd even do well to take inspiration from Iron Man when it comes to Manta's weaponry. You then have the other side, which is the LOTR-type water sorcery and characters like Orm, Mera, Garth, etc. would represent that. I'd want to see Orm doing dark Atlantean sorcery... some really twisted things like being able to raise sea-creatures from the dead and use them against his brother. The deep-sea creatures in the movie would be other-wordly as well like on LOTR, but more extreme in appearance, concept, and size. This is their chance to show God of War-type moments when Arthur is facing a colossal creature.

Why not make Aquaman's costume a part of his skin?

I LOVE the scales. I hope the movie makers use that to show he has fish like abilities, which fits with his ruling 70+% of the earth.

The green pants could be something he adapts, so he doesn't show his gonads. I mean, it could be fish/repitalian like.

Default Making Aquaman's Powers Awesome

This isn't about casting or costume-- though I'm sure; judging from Man of Steel, that they will design a cool suit. This is about Aquaman's powers and making him not suck.

My opinion on this character is to throw away what they have done in the comics. All the audience needs to know is that this is a super human with water related super powers.

1. Hydrokinesis: Given the power to control water with his mind and some good CGI; Aquaman could have one of the coolest looking powers in the Justice League. The way I would portray this power is how Dumbledore used a pool of water in the Order of the Phoenix film to fight Voldemort.

2. Super strength: If Aquaman has hydrokinesis; then he would exhibit super human strength (think Thor) as the human body is mostly water.

Why throw away what has been done in comics? That sounds ridiculously stupid.

Keep what's been done in the comics and let it influence the film. Though I do think hydrokinesis is a cool ability for Arthur to have. Necessary to have? Maybe not.

Hydrokinesis would be pretty cool though.

I don't know why this isn't in the Aquaman thread, which is basically general discussion of the character, but okay... Like everyone else, he already is pretty bad ass.

I can't say I'm crazy about hydrokinesis. Maybe as a magic, type thing.

But what I would emphasize, is that he lives in a world where there are some very freakish sea creatures. So, he could certainly do more than summon a dolphin or a shark. Think a kraken, or some other giant sea beast.

If we're adding powers, I'd like to see an Aquaman who can generate, electricity, like say an eel. Use it offensively or defensively. Keeps with the aquatic theme.

Especially once he gets a trident.

Why would one need to use some new hydrokinetic power to justify giving Aquaman super strength, when he *already* has super strength, and always has? Guy works fine as a utility infielder who combines decently high physical power and speed, with exotic senses and telepathy. Assuming you use him, which I think is a bad idea for budgetary reasons.
