I don't want a Hackman like Lex. Hackman is a fine actor and played that version of Lex, which I assume was simular to the comicbook version at the time, as well as can be expected but we in the 2000's not 1978. I want a new version that is nothing like the old one.
I do like Chandler as an actor though and wouldn't mind someeone like him in the role. I'm kind of hoping they cast against type but I wouldn't mind some of the choices on this thread.

I have no particular objection to Kyle Chandler actually
![]() Yeah, it's weird. I know Issacs is older... But he looks in the same age group as the other two to me. And, call me weird, but he's the sexy kind of older man. Which I really want from Lex. Not like 'Oh he's such a fittie', but just well groomed and charming.

I suspect they'll be casting a bigger name to play Lex. Someone the public will immediately recognize.

Chandler would have made a killer Pa Kent. Hell, throw in Connie Britton as Ma Kent as well.

Jackman, like Spacey was unfortunately stuck with a lame characterization. To this day I think jackman would be ideal if he was given the proper script.
Watching him in films such as Unforgiven and Crimson Tide among others...plus he has that 90's era comic look.

Actually, Hackman's Lex wasn't really at all similar to comic book Lex of that era. Much of the characterization was invented by the filmmakers out of the blue.

But obvious enough to figure out that said actor wasn't even in the movies they were talking about.

![]() I've only seen Issac's as Lucius Malfoy, Hook and briefly in Resident Evil. I can't see him as Lex in those roles, but he could possibly do it, I'm sure you've seen him in more stuff than I...enough to make you think he's sexy lol Age doesn't bother me that much. I know we want to see a younger Lex, but I just want to see a different Lex, thanks to the performances of Hackman and Spacey. I won't keep harping on about him, but I see a lot of Lex potential in Del Toro. From friendly and charming, cracking a smile and story like Rosenbaum... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BNtX...t=HL1357448285 To downright psycho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpymyOS70_w That's what I see of Lex...could be from Del Toro, or another actor like him.

![]() I do get what you mean about Del Toro... I certainly wouldn't be bummed if Lex did turn out to be him.

I know this gas been mentioned before by sone but on the Modern Myth Media podcast someone in there suggested Idris Elba for Lex Luthor. I have to say if they were to go against the comics version (Lex been a bald white male) to an a diverse version of Lex in Elba then I would be very on board with that.

That's a genuine requirement to fully get Lex over with modern audiences in this new franchise, and I agree. For whoever lands the role, the performance simply cannot be akin to what the previous live action films have already presented, and somehow expect it to be taken in with any enthusiasm.

I have a question for everyone, do you think Lex needs to be bald in the MOS universe?

Yup, and that's a pic of him in 'Awake', which was the show that made me change my mind about him being too old.

I'm for abald Lex in the sense that I think his baldness is like Superman's cape-it's part of his classic "costume." Luthor can be of whatever ethnicity or accent they want, but if Nick Fury gets an eye-patch, than Lex gets to be bald.

The best live action lex so far as been on Lois and Clark imo.
Some might champion Smallville, but that would akin to championing Welling as the best superman so far. Which he ain't, due to context and a few other things. Plus lex was mad dumb on Smallville.
