The 89 suit was the closest thing we've gotten to the comic suit. Only Begins comes close.

It wouldve been pointless for him to get beefed up for the role. The script and the movie didnt call for any shirtless scene, and weve only seen his back in the movie, so there was no point. Not only that, but he specifically stated he couldnt get big because he wouldnt fit the suit, which was actually pretty tight. He did get into good physical shape and took extensive kickboxing lessons tho. Had to to move around in that armor

![]() Also, I think the 66' Batman-suit is overall just as comic-accurate. It all depends on what comic-suit you compare with, it has changed quite a lot through the years after all.

I love how leathery and dirty the B89 suit looks... It's streamlined and bulky at the same time. It's strange but Michael Keaton feels the most like a Neal Adam drawing come to life for me.
And is it just me who feels that the more this film ages, the more it adds to it's quality and atmosphere?

It does have a very timeless feel to it thanks to its melding of '40s and '80s.
And even how the movie was made makes it feel more like a product of the 1930s than anything since. |

I have to say of the burton suits i prefer the returns one:
![]() It was much more streamlined on him and you could actually believe he could fight in that thing, the first suit weighed a ton and it looked it. My main issue with the original costume is also how the cowl was so misshapen on keatons head. The sides of the cowl kept popping out whenever in action. They solved that problem in the returns suit.

And that's kinda my complaint; people get so hung up on the functionality of things, they overlook artistic aesthetic aspects.

Or the script was written to accommodate that they never had to show him shirtless. He had one shirtless scene when he was hanging upside down in the middle of the night after sleeping with Vicki, and it was shot in a way that you didn't get a look at his chest, and it could also have easily not been Keaton, just a stunt man.

I'm sorry the script was written so that you couldn't see Keaton's beefy body.

Don't apologize. The failings of the movie are not your fault.

You do realize you're way too miserable a person to have that username, right?

That's why I love having it. It's such a delicious irony that I enjoy abusing.

That just makes you seem more sad, though.
Anyway, I'm sure you have more than a few Batman pornos on your multiple HDs of porn that feature plenty of a shirtless, chiseled Batman.

Funny coming from someone who sports the claim that they're a porn actor in their custom title.

That's just a reference to a Wll Ferrell iPod commercial. It doesn't actually have anything to do with porn.

Even funnier is you felt the need to justify it, as though I was really being serious with you all along. I couldn't help it after your petty remark about Keaton's beefy body, or lack thereof as Batman.

I always explain it because I like to point it out when people don't know what they're talking about. Which is also why I talk to you at all.

But that's the thing, I wasn't really irked by anything. I was just messing around.
And people who are, yknow, not miserable would have just messed around right back instead of turning into a petty and pointless argument. But Anyhoo, I'm not continuing it any longer. You really should lighten up though.

Aside from this heated discussion, I must say that is one of the best things I've read on SHH. I say fashion over function!
