Yeah, if anything, the impression one gets is that Wonder Woman still has feelings for Steve but is deliberately pushing him away in order to protect him (which he doesn't take kindly to, at all) and that what this romance between her and Supes appears to have all the hallmarks of a rebound relationship on her part. While Supes is apparently using this as a means to avoid his own problems of not being able to form close attachments to others as Clark Kent. And apparently, according to Justice League International #1, this relationship has such dire consequences for the world that

Booster Gold's future self tried to warn him that it was imperative that they stop Superman and Wonder Woman or otherwise "we'll cease to exist," but both he and Booster seemingly fade out of existence before they can do anything about it.

This was done a lot better than I thought it would be. The reasons that you state pretty much sum up why I think that the Superman/Wonder Woman relationship is off to a great start. It also helps that this version of Wonder Woman feels far less virginal, so it doesn't seem weird with her having romantic interests in this continuity as opposed to the last one.

Oh, it's got the potential to become a rather interesting, big hot mess for Supes, Diana, etc down the road in-story, no doubt about that. Especially for poor, poor Booster.

Though I dont know how I feel about Supes/WW getting together supposedly puts the future at risk enough to make BG disapear from the present day. But I would love to read what the tabloid magazines woudl say in the DC52U about this pairing. The headlines would probably be hilarous.

It read to me like they do SOMETHING in an upcoming story that causes Booster's timeline to be erased. "You must stop Superman and Wonder Woman from" is more or less what is said; it is never elaborated what they need to be stopped from doing. So I don't think it's necessarily them hooking up that mucked things up.

In either case I liked the allusion that this version of Booster has seemingly gone bye bye and we'll probably get a variation and revamping of the old version in an upcoming Time Masters focused storyline.
