I was so surprised by this that I forgot to mention that in conjunction with the recent Lindsay Lohan news (out of rehab, trying to stay clean), I was expecting to see her name listed next. She's in a similar boat to Thompson, being related to Disney as a child star (though not so directly).

Him and Ryan Gosling too. Although I would count Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, but they had their share of problems in the past.

I would say Britney's meltdown disqualifies her. She didn't commit suicide or fall deeply into drugs but she couldn't take the pressure either. Aguilera I've heard less disaster stories about.

My mother loved him on Jett Jackson. She is shocked right now and so am I. He was attractive, young and talented. You just never know how much pain people are in.

The ones you think aren't troubled are always the ones that are. The people that are out there having meltdowns and going into rehab I suspect don't feel that life is that bad they wanna die. They wanna keep the party going.

You have a point Terry. Suicide is always so frustrating. I wonder if his co-workers or the show suspected something was wrong with him? Or his family? Had he tried to harm himself before? Did he have a girlfriend or boyfriend? I literally know nothing about the man.

I've seen people claim this suicide was due to depression.

Did he have a history of mental illness?

R.I.P Lee Thompson Young. I remember him from Hills Have Eyes 2 and a few other things, plus he was one of my favs for Black Panther.

He was a Disney child star so I'm guessing he had problems related to that. It is literally such a recurring theme that I really wish it was something someone would investigate.

I agree, Disney has always been rotten and most of these kids break away from the company very screwed up. Of course it could have nothing to do with Disney but I suspect it does more often than not.

Keri Russel has done very well for herself on TV and the Big Screen....

I don't think it is just Disney....it is child actors as a whole. Selena Gomez talked about this not long ago in an interview with Ryan Seacrest. She said it is VERY HARD to handle celebrity at a young age unless you have a strong support system OUTSIDE of the industry. Those actors that seem very stable seem to have one thing in common, they have a life outside of their career that keeps them grounded.

Justin Timberlake turned out okay despite being a Mouseketeer but things might've been different if he didn't have a major comeback music career.

But what's strange about Lee is formerly child actors usually stop short of suicide with self-destructive or risky behavior.

Alot of drug use but rarely suicide.

It's creepy...I remember the character he played on the short-lived show Flash Forward killed himself.
