Sad.

Admittedly I've never read his books, but I did grow up on a healthy dose of video games and films based on his work.

I played 10 minutes of a Rainbow Six game before becoming frustrated with it. R.I.P Tom Clancy.

Holy ****.
End of an empire.

I kinda knew Tom personally, at least through the Internet....we started corresponding via e-mail back in the mid-90s through an AOL chatroom about ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). I had a brother-in-law who was dying with the disease, and he had a relative who had passed away with it. Genuinely nice guy, and very supportive. Gonna miss him, and all his books and games....RIP.

Tom Clancy was an awesome writer, I enjoyed his books immensley, especially Without Remorse, the book which instilled in me a love for reading at the age of 16...

I didn't think he would go this soon. I've read a few of his books (that he actually wrote) but mostly enjoyed the Splinter Cell games and books (which despite his name being on, he didn't write).

I miss Steve Irwin immensely. I woke up at like 3 or 4 am about a year back and Animal Planet was running an episode of Croc Hunter. It made me happy but also depressed me really bad. My mom still has that terrible movie he made, but honestly, I like it for the cheese and knowing that he probably had a blast making it.

I'm a Splinter Cell fan, I'm quite saddened to hear of his passing. My Dad is shocked, he loves his novels and films. This is so sudden

I saw him at an art gallery showing a few months ago, I wanted to talk to him but I didn't want to come across as a fanboy.

Clancy died and I didn't even know it. Not in agreement on his politics, but he gave us Jack Ryan, a truly great pop culture creation. A brave hero, sure, but also a THINKING MAN'S hero. He was not some Arnie/Sly/Man With No Name type. Red Storm Rising, Hunt For Red October, and Clear And Present Danger were some of my favorite summer reads as a teen. Wow.
