And how will that prove anything? The woman was already nominated and won for Hurt Locker. I fail to see the logic in your post, other than being upset that a movie you favor isn't going to win. Everyone pretty much knows on the list it's going to be Lincoln, and if not Argo is probably the dark horse of the group.

I'm massively shocked Life of Pi was nominated for Best Film.

Considering that film is a visual Medium and LOP was dominated by it's visuals,I am not surprised at all.

Commiserations to all involved with TDKR. I said from the outset that it wouldn't win anything of substance, and nor did it deserve to on its own merits, but I am a bit surprised that it didn't manage to get any recognition in any technical category. The always seem to add a degree of insult to injury- for me, it is the predictable but unjustified feting of "Les Mis". Boring musical, horrid bourgeois music, boring cast, boring direction; safe Oscar-bait.

It is increasingly clear that there is a model "safe" Oscar film. It needs to have a suitably worthy topic- a literary adaptation or a historical biopic- a safe director, and an expensive cast. It shouldn't be too challenging or controversial. I am not saying that all movies of this type are bad, but it makes the Oscars a predictable and slightly pointless exercise, because movies get trimmed and polished to suit the formula. It has probably made film less interesting. A similar process has occurred in the production of fine wine: because high ratings from certain critics increase the market value of wines, their producers just make them to the individual critics' taste, and now different wines taste much alike.

I digress. Boo-hiss to "Les Mis". I know it is divisive here, but I hope that "Skyfall" gets its cinematography award, which it richly deserves.

The only thing TDKR had a chance at was Cinemetography and Skyfall pretty much knocked it out of that catagory.

I disagree about Les Mis, but that's a matter of opinion I suppose.

Their BP winner will be one of these five:

Beasts of the Southern Wild **
Life of Pi **
Lincoln **
Silver Linings Playbook **

Because they were also nominated for best director and best screenplay (original or adapted). The winner will be whichever appeals most to these.

Lincoln, no doubt. While I wanted TDKR to be nominated, I always felt Lincoln would win Best Film.

I'd love for it to be true, but it's chances are looking significantly slimmer with Affleck getting snubbed for directing.

Also, I really feel Zimmer deserved a nomination this time, regardless of what his chances were. TDKR's score was some of his most propulsive, scary and inspiring work to date. And yes, I think the chant was daring and iconic.

Argo is basically dead along with ZDT with no BD nomination. SLP is probably the darkhorse with so many major nominations.

Without access to the ballot numbers, it’s tricky to call any omission an organized conspiracy or “moral outrage.” Yes, if a highly regarded film/talent gets zero votes, it could be an indication of something fishy. But for all we know, Bigelow might have placed a strong sixth place - missing the cut by only one or two votes.

Also - ZDT did get nominated for best film and screenplay.
