McCarthy looks like he is gonna kill somebody in this press conference. He has every right to be angry.

Both the official on the field and the official in the booth saw enough evidence to rule without a shadow of a doubt, to not overturn the play, TD.

Just saying.

It wasn't even a tie the Seattle Player didn't even put both hands on the ball until they both were on the ground.

You can't overturn that call after someone ruled it a touchdown, the refs wouldn't make it out The Clink alive if they did reverse it.

They can't overturn possession in a case like that, as per ESPN who had an experienced official on hand, who also said clearly was defensive possession. Tie does go to the offense, but this wasn't a tie. Tate had one hand on the football. Jennings had it cradled in his chest. This is blatantly obvious, and the NFL should be very embarassed. This is a poor product we're getting, and it is hurting the players and now screwing teams.

Tonight's game pretty much defines the kind of season that we have been having this season; embarrassment after embarrassment.

Rule 8, Item 5: Simultaneous Catch. If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. If the ball is muffed after simultaneous touching by two such players, all the players of the passing team become eligible to catch the loose ball.

I was talking to my boss about how bad the Superbowl might get if these refs are still around. I can only wonder how nervous they'll be and how much they'll mess up because of it.

Both players caught the ball simultaneous and Jennings then wrestle better control of the ball, the ref hesitated, but made the correct call....they review it and confirmed it. Doesn't matter if it can be overturned or not, they review it and confirm it. It was a simultaneous catch....Jennings did a better job of securing it.

Steve Young actually looks like he is on the verge of tears as he talks about the state of the NFL.

Yes it DOES matter because if they botch the call, then it can't be reversed by replay. Even if they realized the call on the field was wrong, they wouldn't be able to reverse it. How does that not matter? EVERY former NFL player is calling this a joke. Former officials say they screwed up. Are you going to question people who actually did this for a living on this call?

I'm sorry, it's clear the wrong decision was made. And fans have every right to be furious over this. The NFL is failing their fans. They deserve the backlash.

We don't even know what the call on the field was if it was a TD called, then there was no way to overturn it and say it was an Interception

I love how both refs look at each other and then throw up different calls. So pathetic.

The NFL does deserve the backlash, this controversy is a blessing. However, there is a lot of bias, so because every player, coach staffs and talking heads calls it a joke is to be expected. I personally want the regular refs myself....I am in agreement with the majority; but, many of you are allowing your emotions and bias to dictate what the rule clearly states and what actually happen on the field.

Whew, this has been a sad three weeks for the NFL. Imagine in a parallel universe where the regular refs were still officiating. I wonder how different the current standings would be.

I quoted the rule. Did you read it? Here it is again just in case:

Item 5: Simultaneous Catch.

If you think both players caught the ball at the same time then you should actually watch the replay.
