Default Burned Out With Comic Movie Genre

I was just wondering if there's anyone else in here just like me that's getting a little burned out by all the comic movies that have been flooding movie theaters lately. I seriously have not been enthusiastic about a comic related movie since The Avengers and Man Of Steel because of how many have been churned out since then. For me it was fine when they were only releasing one or two a year, but the massive influx has kind of left me bored with the genre.

Nope. Not in the slightest. This is a Golden Age for people like me. For the first time we have multiple comic book movies a year and the majority aren't crap.

If it wasn't for comic book related movies, I'd rarely be going to the movies anymore.

Not at all. I can't get enough of them. This year has been one of the best for them. The Winter Soldier, Days of Future Past, and GOTG.

Bliss.

Also, how many different comic books are there? If only say 1-2 were released, it'd create such a bottleneck. X-Men, Spider-Man, Superman, Avengers, Batman, etc.

2006 had X-Men: The Last Stand and Superman Returns which at best were underwhelming.

I like that there's 4-5 Superhero movies released a year. It's not a guarantee that they'll all be good, like this year with TASM2. Or for some of us who aren't looking forward towards FF at this time. Or those who were a little sick of the "Wolverine" movies.

I think the studios should hold off on announcing movies years in advance as this dates poaching with untitled movies gives the feeling of too much coming.

But I like that there's a lot of variety. Wish there was more of a 50/50 split between Marvel-based and DC-based

I think it depends on the quality of CBM's per year, after 2013, I was not looking forward to any MCU movie anymore as they seemed to be on a downward spiral, then 2014 came and TWS and GOTG were great.

Yes, only a few fairy tale adaptions and fantasy/sci fi blockbusters

We are getting spoiled if anything. This really is a Golden Age. As long as they're solid movies, people will continue to flock to them.

I'm the opposite.

The only time I go to the movies is to watch superhero movies.

Next up, Avengers 2.

I've been with that outlook since 2008.

The Peter Jackson/Tolkien movie being the exception.

Pretty much same here.

I'll make an exception for Star Wars 7,however.

Yeah. I sure am. Granted, I don't think they've been so good lately, and part of that may be a lack of seeing anything really novel, or for the first time.

I think Iron Man was definitely better than its sequels. And, I haven't been crazy about the whole shared Whedon-esque universe. And I outright hated Man of Steel.

I almost slept through Guardians of the Galaxy, and that wasn't even a bad movie.

So yeah. I have comic book movie fatigue it seems.

Waiting through years of failed projects and finally getting some movies for DC, plus the solid base of live action Marvel movies... keep churning them out!

I'll never be burned out. I'll always love superheroes and these are the only movies I bother to see in theatres.

For me, it happens sometimes. Like when I do nothing but marathon CB films.

A little bit, yeah. I'm not so much burnt out on superhero movies in general as I am with certain formulaic elements that show up in a lot of these films. The huge action spectacle where a city gets destroyed in the third act, the love interest, the heroes always winning very time, etc. There's nothing wrong with these elements in of themselves, in fact I think they're terrific on an individual basis. But when every single film that comes out has them, it can get a little dull. My favorite superhero movies are the ones that try to shake things up and do it a little differently, put a unique spin on the whole affair, and I'd like to see more of that.

Yeah I'm pretty burned out. All the Marvel movies are the same. The DCCU movies are lazy. Fox was doing well with First Class then they brought back Singer.

The CBMs lately are predictable, particularly the boring third acts.

Dawn of the Apes, Edge of Tomorrow, Snowpiercer, Gone Girl, Grand Budapest Hotel, Noah were all more interesting to me.

Minus going to theaters, that's my answer.
These days I take more into comic book movies.

Maybe cause First Class and the Wolverine even with decent reviews were not box office juggernauts.

No offense, but this I one argument I've never been able to understand. You really can't say "All the MCU movies are the same" without making the "evidence" incredibly vague.

Perhaps you're not sick of comic book movies but the hobby of following them through production with the nitpicking and the like
