You make a fair point, the movie needs to be proftiable. And it's box return was paltry.

But what about the fact Dredd did very well in the home market? Depending on how those numbers shook out they very well could have turned a profit from the home market, and maybe good word of mouth from that will see a better box return for a sequel.

There is no doubt in my mind that Dredd 2 would make more money than the first. My question is how much more that it would be worthwhile and if they started now the earliest release would be 2015! Dredd would stand no chance against TA2,BvS and Star Wars 7...

Until such a time that we see a sequel [if ever] I'll just have to satisfy myself with watching both Dredd and the Judge Minty short movie.

Again my hopes are not rising because I remember all of this petition stuff happening for Serenity and a few others, and today here we are with still no sequel to any of them.

But things like the new Riddick movie do give me hope.

And there's Veronica Mars too. So it's a definite possiblity but not an assured thing.

Veronica Mars came about because of millions raised due to kick-starter donations and even then it's going to be a pretty low budget movie.

I can't see a similar scenario working for Dredd?

Please give us a sequel

You know I was saying to my friends today the main thing I love about Dredd is that it's like picking up a random issue of a comic. It doesn't get bogged down as an origin or an ending, it's just it's own contained story and I loved that about it.

Yeah I love that about it as well, its a very easy movie to just get into straight away, and then the movie takes you along on a awesome ride.

ITs no-nonsense, straight to the point, much like the man himself.

I just hope the DVD/Blu Ray sales are enough for us to get another one.

It has done very well in DVD/Blu-Ray sales so that helps. Though it would help more if the people who green light movies realize the bum deal this one had in marketing.

IMO, Dredd was an almost totally flawless movie. There's pretty much nothing about it that I can think of that I can nitpick. It's a great movie AND a great example of perfectly executed filmmaking.

Dropping the 3d is the only thing I'd have changed. But I didn't see it in theaters so maybe the 3d was awesome, I dunno.

I may be alone in this, but I would have preferred it to be a *little* bit less gory. The skinning-alive stuff was, for me, more unpleasant than necessary, though that is a matter of taste.

It was probably unnecessary and yet it was not a gore-fest like some horror movies do where they show it in detail which made it palatable to me.

My only nitpick is that we never got a full frontal shot of Anderson

I bought a few Dredd comics today and re-watched the film. Don't shoot be down but I did not like it on my first viewing but after reading a few comics and giving it another shot I liked it and thought it was a good film, 7/10. Like certain films *cough TASM* it does things that to a non comic reader are odd and perhaps hurt the film. Things like Dredd never taking off his helmet was very silly to me but it was in the comics so it makes sense. Should have made more money as there are garbage R rated films making more. If you are a Dredd fan this could be a top 5 for you.
