Edit: I will elaborate and clarify my thoughts tomorrow. My browser crashed as I was posting my in-depth review of both iterations of the revived Who, but, I am too tired to write it again.

I'm looking forwad to the Docudrams thingy. I'm always interested in those, if they're about something I like even more so.

I love the man, but William Hartnell really was 50 going on 92.

After watching Luther, I got the sudden urge to revisit Paul McGann and his doctor and I remember him doing something in the range of audio. So, instead of watching that...abomination of a movie...I looked up and discovered how much Big Finish he really, actually did and gave it a try. I started with his adventures with his companion, Charley Pollard. I've listening to about 6 adventures with him and I would absolutely love for him to return in the 50th. He's not a bad actor at all by means, and the bad TV movie wasn't his fault. In fact, he's in my top 3 doctors already! In fact, I really love his "current" look as the Doctor, because it makes the regeneration into Eccleston that much, much more awesome.
![]() Bring him back and give him a great script and I'll be satisfied. |

Yeah, McGann's audios are absolutely amazing. He's also got some of the most experimental Doctor Who stories under his belt, like "Natural History of Fear" and "Scherzo."
If you ever get around to listening to some of his audios with a companion named Lucie, they take on a more New Series vibe that feels like a precursor to what we have on TV now. Which stories have you listened to so far?

Speaking of the audios, an 8th Doctor audio (The Chimes of Midnight) and 6th Doctor audio (Holy Terror) are on sale this weekend because Steven Moffat recently named them as his favorite Doctor Who stories for those particular Doctors.
http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/the-holy-terror-637 http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/...f-midnight-653 They're each on sale for £5 on CD or £3 as a download. For us Americans, that CD price in dollars is $8.13, but the download is still only $3. Having listened to both, I highly recommend them. 'Chimes' is a haunting Christmas tale with companion Charley Pollard, and 'Holy Terror' is a dark comedy adventure featuring everyone's favorite shape-shifting alien penguin companion Frobisher!

I'll get to the Lucie ones when I'm done with Charley. I've listened to "Storm Warning" through "Embrace The Darkness". 'Chimes of Midnight' was absolutely fantastic. The only one I kinda haven't liked so far was 'Minuet In Hell'. It was a bad story altogether. |

Yeah, hundreds. Starting in 1999 there were monthly releases with the Doctors, and ever since then it's expanded into several different series' like 'Eighth Doctor Adventures' and 'Companion Chronicles', etc etc.

Officially, the BBC has never really said anything about Doctor Who's many spin-offs and canon. But the writers of the audios use Doctors 4-8, and the stories take place inbetween episodes of the classic TV show. They make sure not to contradict anything that happens on TV and they use all the original actors, so it might as well be canon. Only 1 audio drama contradicts the TV show, and that's a 5th Doctor story called The Kingmaker that features William Shakespeare.

Personally I'd say the audios are more canon than the books and comics. But I prefer the comics to the audios. It's not that any audios are bad, it's just the DWM comics are full of glorious art work from some amazing artists, and their whole 8th Dr era is the stuff of legend. I dread the day IDW colour that...

There weren't enough 9th strips to make a full trade so there was a release of them all in a DWM special. Then there's the two BBC Books graphic novels: The Only Good Dalek, and The Dalek Poject. Both are terrible, utterly terrible, and have 11 in them. The 8th Dr stuff switches to colour for volume 3 and 4, and a lot of the time loses something for me. I'm a big fan of the B&W strips for the fantastic art. There's an absolutely brilliant reveal in one of them that would be spoiled if the picture was to be coloured. Infact a lot of the IDW coloured stuff has, I feel, spoiled the art.

Yeh, but they were drawn and shaded for B&W. I feel the same about IDW colouring TMNT. It was made for B&W and colour spoils it. It's just from what I've seen mind you, ones since then might look a hell of a lot better.
