I had no objection to Snyder turning it into a war event. In fact, that's how the second half should have gone down, in my opinion: Batman systematically destroying the Court of Owls. The Court may know the city better than Batman and were able to exploit it, but they don't know how driven Batman is to fight back. They should have learned the hard way. I only objected to issues 7-8 as extended fight scenes because Snyder did the SAME EXACT THING in Swamp Thing issues 7-8 and neither successfully pushed the plot forward. Get rid of that crappy ambiguous evil brother as main villain nonsense. That's what undermined the whole story. It would have been way more interesting, if Snyder HAD to keep the brother angle, to make Lincoln March a good guy. How does Bruce react to that? Add to the fact that Lincoln probably would have won the Mayor position and together, he and Bruce could take steps forward at rebuilding the city. Anyways, I'm not really looking foward to a 13 issue long Riddler arc. If it's Snyder's comeback arc, I'll pick it up in tpb form. |

Read the latest issue and it was pretty awesome. I'm curious if Joker will die here. Might happen, who knows.

I can't say I'm looking forward to Snyder's next story, but it's time Riddler get some love again. I loved what dini did with him on Tec, but then, it's been a while.

Personally I am loving this Joker arc. Issue #16 was crazy and so enjoyable. I am almost scared to know what Joker has on that silver tray. If it shocks Penguin and Two Face then it must be bad.

Yeah I quite enjoyed the last issue as well, very macabre and haunting feel in it.

I'm just getting caught up on this whole Death of the Family thing now... just how important would you say the tie-ins are?
I dropped Batgirl, Nightwing, etc after the Night of the Owls stuff.

Honestly have no idea where this is going, but I'm really enjoying the ride. My thoughts for what's in the platter is something that incapacitates Alfred but doesn't kill him. If I had to guess, I'd say Alfred's eyes. I only say this because I think Snyder's goal is to make Harper Row a more prominent character and I think with Alfred's vision gone, Bruce may bring in Harper to run the computers and be Bruce's "eyes" from the Batcave. They've already shown that she's pretty tech-savvy, so she could be a big help and it would create a new and interesting dynamic between the relationship of Bruce/Alfred/Harper. They already had Harper and Alfred interact a bit in #12. Probably won't happen, but just my theory.

If Alfred, or hell Joker, is seriously injured/killed I guess I have my jumping off point. I wouldn't want something so important to happen in such a piss poor storyline.
Looks like I'll be taking a break from all things Batman (post-Inc) until there is some better writers aboard these ships.

I feel like these people that constantly bash Snyders work are those cry babies that still can't get over the whole new 52 thing. Very very annoying.

Detective lately has been pretty good, Dark Knight has been pathetic. Only read one Batman and robin and I wasn't crazy for it. Batman Inc is the best, and of course its done soon.

Not necessary but generally good. You don't need them to understand the main story but it's fun to see what else the Joker is up to and how he gets the rest of the Batfamily. I wouldn't recommend Red Hood or Teen Titans as they're both just 'meh'. Not horrible but not really good either. Batgirl, Batman and Robin, Nightwing and especially Detective Comics have very good tie ins though. If you don't pick up any other tie ins, just get 'Tec. It's a tie in that doesn't feel the need to have the Joker running around throughout and continues it's own story while being just connected enough to the rest of what's going on (I'd recommend picking up issues 13, 14, 15 and 16 as they are all part of one arc going on in that series but I wouldn't say you need them to understand 16 as long as you just know there's a new crime boss rising in Gotham, 15 you'd need the previous issues though).

Wrong. Scott Snyder just seems to have had some sort of stroke. Most of the New 52 has been awesome. The Bat-Titles have been declining, except maybe Batman & Robin, Batman Incorporated and Red Hood. But two of those three titles (Inc, RH) will be ending and getting a new creative team.
