Yeah it's pretty clear by his stories that he's been in convo with Morrison for quite some time now. The tie in to the Leviathan thing was nice and subtle. One thing I liked about this issue was how Tomasi wrote Batman and Gordon's convos. He's got a great handle on their voices and it all comes across as very genuine which was refreshing in contrast with the sissified Gordon asking Batman if his fear is showing over in Snyder's book.

Wingman and Redbird are on the cover for the next issue of Inc but I don't know if that means we will necessarily learn who the new Wingman is in that issue though. He'd probably feature and remain masked. I still hope that it's Grayson because I'd love to see another twist on the dynamic between he and Damian at the hands of Morrison before he leaves.

But he told a joke. Oh God..... He told a joke.

That would actually be pretty good. Plus, it would be Grayson's first good issue in a starring role since before the New 52. However, I'm leaning towards it being something entirely out of left field like Superman, or something.

I'm gonna be so disappointed if Wingman isn't Jean-Paul Valley at this point.

That'd be kinda cool though it's been like 3 yrs since we last saw a mention of him in a DC book. Considering all of the pointless changes already made to the bat canon since the relaunch (no Huntress or Batgirls, no Sarah Essen, the Tim Drake issue etc.) I wouldn't be surprised if they've retconned JPV out too. Then again Morrison does like to stick it in the craw of editorial when it comes to things like this.

Widening Gyre Part II will take place in the old DCU. FYI.

Hah.

For me, it reads more like 70s/80s Batman than really anything else published recently. Yeah, it would be even better if Smith stopped writing it while high, but it's still good.

Even if you hate TDKR, it'd be downright dumb not to read it due to its historical significance for both the character and comics as a whole.

You should read Strikes Again as well as All-Star for the hilarity.

I keep thinking I should read Gyre because I like Kev generally and his being a huge Batman fan, but every time he talks about it he gets so whiny and defensive that it puts me off.

Because every time a fanboy talks about it they get all whiny and offensive.

Jimmy Olsen as a ranting paranoid weirdo who wanders into talk shows and interrupts whats going on in the story is never not funny

All Star is also genuinely hillarious in just how badly written it is

Its like The Room but in comic book form

Nightwing #0 revamped the origin into basically what I said should be done in a modern Batman & Robin movie. Weird.

I genuinely enjoyed Gyre. Unironically. I thought it was a solid Batman story. Can't wait to see how it wraps up.

I liked snyder's work, until Batman #7. I didn't like the whole night of the owls, nor his isssue with aht girl and her brother.

On the other hand, I really liked Batman #13, save for a few things. there were some great scenes, and I agree with Mysty about it being part of the Joker reinventing himself.

I liked the part in the shadows, where he killed those cops and frightened Gordon. I didn't like the sissified Gordon, nor the two last pages. I understand the point, but I do think killing this character, if that really happens, would be dumb. they already did that in 1964, and we got aunt Harriet instead. Then they understood their mistake and made him come back.

About Wydening Gyre, I don't care about the bladder thing. I think it's dumb, but that doesn't bother me that much. But I thought the story was uninteresting, Batman was totally dumb, the dialogues were terrible, and Smith seems to think killing the girlfriend is the ultimate twist, as he already did the same thing in Daredevil. what's the point to bring an iconic character like Silver, just to use her that way? I had no fun while reading this story (apart from when Bats made a joke to tim), and the art was awful.

~Gu3ree~ Superman doesn't manage to save 10,000 people. He doesn't come out as a big hero in the movie. he's just pissed at General Zod. He isn't necessarily concerned about the people.
