New mario kart and mario and zelda sound great...i love the sonic games new look...very galaxy!

Good games are on the way, there's no doubt about it. Once Nintendo starts releasing games the Wii U will be fine. If you're having doubts, it's best to wait for E3 and see what Nintendo announces. If those games don't trip your trigger, it may be best to skip the Wii U.

Like Matt says you should probably wait till E3 and see what you think. The other thing though is that you could trade your wii in as it'll be backward compatible which is what I'm thinking of doing if not now, then a year or 2 down the line when it's cheap.

Unless there's a game out now that you really want to play, there's no reason to get a WiiU immediately.

I'm not on the MS or Sony bandwagon just yet since nothing has really stood out for me, and I just bought an 8GB Wii U over the weekend along with NBA2K13, so I'm good for now.

Can't wait for E3, took the day off of work so I can watch the Nintendo Direct (I work for a website so I'm going to write an article on the epicness of it).

But truth be told I don't want Nintendo to just use the Mario's and Zelda's to sell the Wii U, bring in the whole library of classic franchises. Some of them are in serious need of a reboot. I wrote a blog about the Top 5 that need a reboot.

Link is here.

Wii U goes hands-on in six summer vacation hotspots around the US

14

Nintendo is taking the Wii U on vacation, hosting hands-on exhibits in six cities across the nation now through September 2, starting at Disney restorts in California and Florida. The tour brings Wii U games including Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, Lego City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Need for Speed Most Wanted U to a "living room setting" filled with various Nintendo props.

The Wii U exhibit stops by Downtown Disney at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, from June 5 to June 23, and it's live now at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, also through June 23, according to the event page. Next up are stops at the Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois, and in Bloomington, Minnesota, from June 28 to July 21. From August 10 to September 2, the tour goes to Boston, Massachusetts, and Hollywood, California.

If your vacation plans include any of these cities during the Wii U tour, maybe bring some extra hand sanitizer and give the console a whirl.

Rumor: GameStop discontinuing Wii U Basic after June 18

24

Some GameStop locations will no longer sell the 8GB Wii U Basic console after June 18, according to a Kotaku source. CNET also says it's confirmed this with several GameStop stores. We've contacted both Nintendo and GameStop for comment.

Other retailers have held sales for the Wii U Basic over the last few months, though it's hardly indicative of retailers looking to get rid of stock ahead of a recall. In its year-end financial report, Nintendo revealed Wii U shipments fell below the company forecast. As of March 31, 3.75 million Wii U consoles have been sold worldwide.

Yeah, 8GB isn't really much in the grand scheme if you're gonna be downloading a bunch of ****.

And the way Nintendo is pushing the Eshop it doesn't make sense for them to offer an 8gb console.

I guess 8gb was put out there to get a cheaper model on the market but it always seemed foolish to sell a system with that little space. Heck the 32gb is pathetic in todays market. It just shows how out of touch with reality Nintendo is

A trailer? Thats awesome! I thought we were just gonna get screen shots. I guess they're closing to being done with the game than I thought.

They're wrong right off the bat...EA back peddled in regards to the WiiU. Other than that...I hope their predictions come true.

I'm extremely curious about what Retro is up to. I think it'd be interesting for them to take a crack at something like Star Fox

So Nintendo Direct takes place during E3. It doesn't really count as missing E3 then in the way I was thinking.

I think the Nintendo Direct is the morning of E3. Press conference or not, there's gonna be a landslide of Nintendo news coming up next week.

Yeah, when I 1st heard the news about them pulling out of E3 to do their own thing I thought it was going to be at a completely different time (which I do think would have been a mistake as the eyes of the wider non-gaming press are on E3 and won't be, at least not in the same numbers, for secondary events). If it's during E3 then it should be fine for them. The conferences of the past few E3s have done no favours to any of the console manufacturers IMO. THe publishers have done fine though.

I finally got around to getting my WiiU updated and purchasing Super Metroid. I missed the previous $0.30 games but none of them were absolute must haves for me. But I LOVE Super Metroid. The restore points and button configuration are awesome.

I haven't had much of a chance to play my WiiU due to grad school and losing my gaming space in my basement due to a leak.
