The Royal Flush gang started 3 years ago meaning they weren't on Ollie's list. And he didn't care. For someone talking about cleaning up the poison in his city, he couldn't reason that the list isn't the only problem. Diggle had to trick him into helping that officer and going after the Royal Flush gang. The list isn't about cleaning the city. It's just revenge. And revenge is what he survived on the island with. It's interesting to me. But he's still delusional.

I learned 3 things tonight...
1. Good episode 2. They totally ripped off 'Inside Man'. 3. Apparently an arrow shot in the middle of someones chest does not hurt or kill them. (vest?)

3. Pretty sure it was his right shoulder that was shot, not that it changes much pain wise.
They just wanted to give the guy that non-stop villain vibe. |

Yeah, but then the camera moves or the shot changed and you could see it in the shoulder.

Anyone else think it was weird that Speedy (although drunk) seemed clueless that Tommy was talking about Laurel? it was just like 2 episodes again when she told Oliver they were boning eachother

On another note, I never did give my input on what I think about the show so far.
Honestly, I really thought at first that this was going to tank. I was never really a big fan of the idea of having a Green Arrow TV Series, and I really didn't think that it would be good at all. However, after seeing every episode that has aired so far, my views of the show have changed DRASTICALLY. I really like what the show has done and where it's gone so far. Yeah, it's not exactly entirely faithful to the comics (then again, is there any comic book medium that ever is?), but it's really great to watch. I love on how they've really made the show into a crime drama at times and how they've really given audiences something to tune in for. I love the idea of Oliver chasing after the individuals listed in his father's book while learning the mystery behind on what happened to him on the Island. It's definitely the concept of the island that really intrigues me a lot since I like the idea that Oliver went through hell over there and that it was like another war that he had to survive before coming back to the present; makes him feel more seasoned to me as he begins his hunt on the corrupt. Overall, I hope the show can continue to keep rising in its quality. |

Merlyn being responsible for Thea's death would be a great way to make him and Oliver into enemies.

It's definitely a better solution than going down the CW route of having them become enemies because of a love interest (Laurel)

I noticed everyone complaint about the love triangle and Thinking it it on the show Because it a CW show I have a question Do you read comics
Comics writers loves the love triangles like or More than the CW Examples of the love triangle in Comics 1. Bruce Talia and Selina 2. Dick Grayson Kory and Barbara 3. Hal Jordan, Carol Ferris and cowgirl 4. Spider-Man, Mary Jane and Black Cat 5. Scott and Jean Grey and Wolverine |

This was a good episode and not a rip off of inside man, as having an inside man on a bank heist has been done before.
Anywho, this was actually the first time that I felt the writers & Olliver did not rip off Nolan/Batman, in that Olliver didn't really want to fight crime or be a hero or really try to cleanup the city by ridding it of crime, but instead just wanted to target those on the list to avenge his father and his wrongdoings.

Good episode. I liked the interpretation of the Royal Flush gang. You can see how these people would eventually evolve and more elaborate MO after a few generations.
Also this show's giving us on an almost weekly basis a new up and coming director that shoots really well. Another thing. About Oliver's liberal political leanings in the comics. I can totally see them eventually going that way. He's going after the rich of Star city, it's not too far till he hates all rich people and is arguing with Bruce Wayne. I can see it happening.

Question, I can't remember but are they ever called the "Royal Flush Gang" in the episode?
How do you guys feel about them not using comic names of the characters on the show (Deadshot, Deathstroke, GA, Huntress)? Do you think that it makes the show less hokey and campy OR do you feel that it cheapens the characters by not fully identifying whom they are?

Actually, Deadshot was named Deadshot. Deathstroke, well, there wasn't an opportunity yet to drop his name. And they might not call Ollie Green Arrow on the show yet, but at least Ollie called himself Arrow. With Huntress, I think we have to wait till the Episode airs.

Would it have made sense to call them the Royal Flush gang though? They were only 4 members.

I don't know crap about playing cards or what a royal flush within the context of a card game is. I saw playing card themed thieves in a CD universe show, works for me.

Was there any meaning for them to go with that persona? Seemed kind of random for them to take on that identity as a whole and kind of stupid since the cops will know every bank they hit.

Well, a Royal Flush consists of the cards 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace. And since they were just four, you couldn't really call them the Royal Flush gang. I don't understand why they didn't simply add a 5th family member.
