I just figured that like Laurel, she probably thought it wasn't anything serious but more a 'friends with benefits' type arrangement. And what Tommy was asking her about was for something serious. Plus, his coyness and vague references weren't helping either.

the hood didnt exist at that point...they went directly after Oliver and Tommy...

well judging by her reaction to finding out it was about Laurel, she looked kind of mad and jealous... and given the history, you'd think it would have been the first think she thought of when Tommy asked her for advice lol

Forcing confessions on innocent people isn't a chance. He's treating anyone connected to that list as if they were on that list.

I don't thinking a guy tied to a train is given a chance to do the right thing. He's given a chance to die or not die by doing what Ollie wants. lol

What he did for the Royal Flush father is more of what I think is the right thing. A good man who made a bad decision and is given a chance to walk away. He doesn't have to confess or give back the money. Just stop.

It's not stubbornness. The dude's sanity is tied to that list. Look how shaken he was at the end of last nights ep just by facing down someone that wasn't on that list.

Ollie went into survival mode on that island by clinging to this idea of how he was going to right this wrong, but every time he's confronted by his family or in this case, a non-list threat, he shuts down.

Shaken? He was conflicted because he made a promise.

At no moment in the episode Oliver displayed signs of "Enemy not on the list? DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROCEED!".

Oh! You're talking about a chance to do the right thing. I was just pointing out he gave them a chance to live, as the guy on the train tracks can attest.

If his sanity is tied to a list he has, then he's not quite insane yet, is he? I agree with you up and down that there's something very wrong with Ollie, but even your word choice shows that insanity isn't the right word for it.

For instance, it's true he doesn't know how to handle his family, but he's not shutting down. He seems to be trying new bad ideas each week on them, lol.

Just like the lie detector. He's good at hiding it.

But the logic behind the list is flawed. So his grip on reality is flawed. He keeps talking about the people poisoning his city, but he really just means that list.

We all agree that he's suffering from some mild form of PTSD. The only reason he hasn't snapped is because he's channeled it into GA but as everyone keeps saying to him." Um, that guy is insane."

So this early version of GA is formed from that delusion of how to fix Starling City. This early version doesn't account for variables to his plan like family or sympathetic villains like the RFGang. Not because he doesn't want to, but because he can't see it as his problem. It's not on the list basically.

Diggle even had to force him to look out for that cop's medical bills, but he was willing to drain that guy's bank account in the pilot and funnel it back cause he was on the list.

Ollie is right. He's not a hero. But I don't think he knows what he is.

His rationale for not tackling street crime is because it happens every day, at anywhere and at any time. Which makes sense. As one person, he could exhaust himself going after these criminals but he'd hardly make a dent or a real difference in the grand scheme of things. He is right in that it is a symptom and not the problem itself.

Lastly, I think it's clear that he wasn't trying to be a hero. As I've been saying since the show started, his motivation is neither justice nor even revenge. He's just trying to atone for his family's sins by correcting the wrongs they and their ilk have done to the city.

This is where I think the show differs the most from Batman. Unlike Bruce, Ollie is able to envision an end point for his vigilante activities. His starting to go after street crime, in my opinion, is the start of a slippery slope from which Ollie might lose himself to the Arrow.

Yeah you would think with a hero wearing the color green they wouldn't be afraid to play with some color. I'm so tired of the "Hey, let's put everyone in black leather" routine. Huntress should be entirely purple and white or a combination with very very little black.

This, minus the cape, would look great on screen.

I agree. I wouldn't mind the cape if the ears were lowered on the mask though. Something about a functional cape done right would be nice to see.

Also, I like the design, but if they adapted it for the show, but made coloring so that you could actually see the detailing sense the characters seem to mostly operate in the shadows and at nights when fighting crime would be ideal too.

Yeah, if they're not going to do the cape then at least a dark purple trenchcoat. I'm left wondering what Smallville would have done with the character now.

Still, what we're getting is better than what they did in BOP at least.

Yeah, this one has a mask. Guess that's not saying much. At least the character herself has to be better. She just has to.

I think it would be cool if near the end of this season, something bad happens that makes Oliver have to take a few days off or something... and the next episode is all about Oliver telling Diggle about the island... like the whole episode is dialogue between them and flashbacks.

I'm not sure what the endgame is with the island storytelling. We're getting episodes of entirely hallucination flashbacks.

They need to use the flashbacks more effectively. I'd love to see a pre-crash Ollie, Tommy, Laurel, and Papa Queen. Kind of like Jake and his father on LOST.

It would need to serve a story though. That being said, 'party days' Laurel might be a nice change of pace for the character. Back before she became such a stick-in-the-mud.

I'd rather they keep the flashbacks and the story focused on Oliver.

Laurel's stuff drags this show down and kills the intensity of the actual interesting plots.
