Is Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opening Memorial Day Weekend in 2014?

If so, why don't they just switch the two movies. They say, Memorial Day Weekend isn't as much of a money maker anymore...but I think it depends on the movie.

MIB 3 did decent this past year. But I expect Fast Six to do EXTREMELY well Memorial Day 2013. And I think The Hangover Part II opened Memorial Day weekend 2011. It did very well also.

I'm just saying, if I were FOX, I'd move Days of Future Past to Memorial Weekend 2014

At this point, WB's plan backfired. They knew a First Class sequel wasn't much competition for them, so they moved in on Fox's date with the expectation that they would move. But now DoFP is going to be just as highly anticipated as The Hobbit 3, possibly even more so.

I don't think FOX will switch the release of DOFP to the release date of Planet of the Apes and let Planet of the Apes compete with the Hobbit.

Its just not a smart decision to let your movie that has a big budget to compete at the opening weekend with a movie like The Hobbit that is also going to open at the same weekend. Unless you are really confident that your movie will still get a lot of money then go ahead.

The X-Men movies doesn't really have strong legs at the box-office. If gets less than $80 million at the opening weekend. I don't think it will beat the domestic box-office numbers of X3.

The comics Mystique couldn't do that though. She could not change her overall body mass but the movie has been pretty vague about that part.

All of them are part of 1 timeline and there is no alternate/altered timeline yet unless If DOFP changes things in the past or the future.

Alternate timeline is the only way.

Say what you will but that opening scene between Xavier and Erik in the Last Stand is a big, huge problem when looked at through the prism of First Class. It just doesn't even remotely fit.

I don't see though how the alternate timeline will fix this.

If DoFP is the point at which the alternate timeline starts, it means that both the original and alternate timelines still have the same shared past - i.e. First Class, in which Charles is paralysed. So this continuity problem is there to stay, alternate timelines or not.

I also wonder now what event in the past needs to be changed to save the future. Because if they still go with the 60s assassination and the public outrage that leads to the Sentinels, that would be the most ridiculously delayed reaction in the history of humankind.

That's true. The alternate timeline wouldn't actually fix any of the continuity problems since all of the events in X-Men First Class would still stand in both timelines.

Yeah, in theory, it doesn't actually fix the errors. I'm fudging it a bit but Days of Future Past will be the point where it won't matter after that point.

This new alternate timeline, in my estimation, will chart a new path for not only X-Men but for the shared universe that Fox has in my for their Marvel properties.

You are not the only one. In First Class, there was no hint about Mystique and Azazel being in a relationship especially Mystique was flirting with other guys such as Beast and Magneto. So if they ended up as a couple in DOFP, it would be strange. Just because they had a child in the comics, it doesn't mean they have to do it in the movie too.

I think they should leave it where it is.

While the Hobbit is definitely popular, I feel the X would fare better if the two were to face off at the box office. With the way DOFP is shaping up, I see it being one of the must see movies of 2014, where as the Hobbit will be on it's last film and will likely be suffering from the fact that they are attempting to spread ONE book over THREE films. This is arguably the biggest problem the first film had, despite it nearing a billion at the box office.

while this film is slowly startin to seem like a sequel to x3 i do have to wonder because vaughn had a hand in the script and was plannin to direct it and yet he has spoken out to his dislike of X3

I doubt singer would change too much from vaughn script
