Arrow The Arrow/Oliver Queen Thread

Discuss the show's lead character, Arrow/Oliver Queen, played by Stephen Amell.

I've gotta say I'm loving his portrayal thus far. He's an engaging lead character. I love the decision to give him the interior monologue. Amell's acting does the role justice too. He's a very likeable lead and I'm glad he's a fan of the material who gives 200% to the role.

I haven't liked this character as much since The Longbow Hunters. They've really captured the essence of what Arrow is all about and finally made the character relevant again.

After only 3 Episodes, I find him already more badass than Nolan's Batman. And it's not because of the fact that he kills.

I think Stephen Amell is superb as Oliver Queen/Arrow and very different than Justin Hartley. I'd say its like the difference between Christian Bale and Michael Keaton, I loved both but they suited the movies they were in same as Amell and Hartley in the TV shows they are/were in.

I also love the inner monolgue stuff and its gotten me more excited for Green Arrow than I have ever been. He's always been a character I liked but now he's a character I love thanks to Arrow and Amell.

I especially love Amells voice as Arrow think its perfect, I'm so glad he and the producers went with what they did and not some silly growl or voice changing apparatus.

I just hope that down the road or after this whole list thing that Ollie becomes less serious and have some personality that isnt driven by revenge.

I'd equate Hartley to Schumaccer's Batman. I didn't find Justin's version true to the modern GA at all. It was closer to the cheesy Silver Age version, and so was his portrayal.

Amell's Oliver Queen/Arrow is badass.

So this shouldn't be on the last page. Amell went from being pretty emotionless and bland to "i can't envision anyone else as Oliver Queen ever again" pretty quickly. He grew more comfortable with the role episode by episode in my opinion and hit his stride in the second half of the season.

His acting in the final episodes of the season was phenomenal, especially in the Undertaking episode where he played young playboy Ollie and current day vigilante equally well.

Lots of great action and stunts from him towards the end too, looking forward to him taking it up a notch next season. Great writing for him too.

I hope the one thing that we can avoid doing in Season 2 is not having Oliver have like 3 very predictable and very repetitive scenes where he goes to visit his then current love interest and have a so called "heart felt" discussion before they get intimate with each other for the first time. It was like de ja vu for three times when we saw Oliver having scenes with Helena, Laurel, and that other woman who's cop, which led to him sleeping with all of them.

And it kind of wastes any development that they spend time on since he just goes back to another woman. Was Oliver's character this flaky in the comics?

I'm not going to lie. Watching those scenes makes me want to find an abandoned factory and just train my ass off. Then I realize I'm not rich and sit by butt back down on the couch.

If Oliver ends up getting romantically involved and intimate with both women at different points in this season, then people will have another reason for wanting Green Arrow Dead in Starling City: Because he's just so damn lucky.lol

Yes, given Oliver's penchant for ill-advised or just downright dangerous hook ups, its only a matter of time until he sleeps with Summer.

Personally, I'd prefer that Felicity date Diggle. I thought that those two had good chemistry in Season 1 and I prefer her and Oliver as "buds."

I wonder how many "moments" we'll actually have in Season 2 where Oliver has his, now vintage scenes with his female stars, where he has this emotional emphiany with them (while letting down a tear drop) as it leads to them sleeping with each other.lol

Well, I'm positive that he'll sleep with Shado at some point. There's always Laurel, and Summer is a definite possibility. Oh, and Black Canary, lets not forget her.

Well, it's almost a given that he'll sleep with Shado due to their somewhat controversial history together in the comics.

And he's already slept with "Black Canary" when you consider who she really is based on what was spoiled about her identity.

Frankly, the only women that seem to be safe from being romantically linked to Oliver are just his family members or women far older than him (at the moment regarding the latter).lol

And they even mentioned on how we might even get hints of Oliver and Felicity later on in the season.

Jeez, Oliver gets more action on this show than Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne, and James Bond combined. Also, I'm hoping that Shado shows up in Starling City at some point, perhaps with a 5 year old son named Connor.

I don't want any of them dating.

There's no need for romance IMO.

It's kind of funny on how, despite being the main/titular character for this show, this thread has like least amount of activity going on in it.

That's asking too much for the CW.

At this point I think it is safe to say Amell has done an excellent job as Oliver/Arrow but when the show is done he is going to have a tough time being known as anything other than this character.
That's not entirely bad though, he can make money at cons around the world for the rest of his life.

Guess who else is open for a cross over with super girl.

Would you like to see an "Arrow"/"Supergirl" crossover?

"Arrow's" Stephen Amell Would 'Love' to Cross Over with "Supergirl"
Amell discussed "Arrow's" potential for fantastical elements, his chances of appearing on "Supergirl," his foe in "Legends of Tomorrow" and more.
Quote:
Amell is ready for a multiversal journey of his own.

The landscape of the DC TV Universe has changed a lot since Stephen Amell first joined"Arrow" as Oliver Queen. The show has transitioned from a grim, grounded world to a multiverse filled with superpowers and time travel. During an interview with IGN, Amell discussed "Arrow's" expanding potential for fantastical elements, his chances of appearing on "Supergirl," his foe in "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" and more.

RELATED: LOOK: "Supergirl" & "The Flash" Join Forces in New Behind-the-Scenes Photo

When asked whether or not he's interested in crossing over with CBS' "Supergirl," much like "The Flash" star Grant Gustin, he responded with a laugh. "I would love to go over to 'Supergirl,'" he shared. "That would be a blast, if for no other reason than I miss shooting in Los Angeles."

He also confirmed the identity of his foe in the latest episode of "Legends of Tomorrow," saying, "It's a Wilson." However, he didn't confirm this Wilson's first name; this could very well be Slade "Deathstroke" Wilson's son, who was mentioned a few times in "Arrow" season two.

As to the show's new lease on the fantastic, he explained, "As long as we're on the air, the more fantastical things are going to get, you know what I mean? You gotta keep pushing the envelope. I think anything that exists within the three shows -- or the four shows, as the case may be -- is in play, 100 percent. I don't think that there is anything off the table. If that means time travel, if that means other Earths, if that means more mystical powers, superpowers..."

"It is always very nice to bring in these elements, if for no other reason than they add levity," he added. "I like seeing how David Ramsey as Diggle reacts to superpowers. Love it.

I like having to explain to the group that time travel exists. I like those moments, because they provide, I wouldn't say comedic relief, but just a little bit of levity that is important for both the viewer and the actor over the course of 23 episodes."

Starring Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards and David Ramsey, "Arrow" airs Wednesdays at 8 pm EST on The CW.

Since it seems that Flash will be on Supergirl through virtue of interdimensional travel, I'm not sure how that'd work for Arrow...but I wouldn't be opposed to it.

Well, in theory, Supergirl could be the one visiting that time. Even if its not under her own power, no reason a fight with some alien demigod or weird tech doohickey couldn't send her flying through a portal to another world.

I suppose, conversely, it could be Ollie who has the unfortunate encounter, and is similarly stuck in National City until some arrangement can be made.

If they did that, they could include a sneaky reference to Batman.
