No more than a sign of hope?

Than explain why Blake would become Batman? The symbol is meant to stay as there will be a new Batman. Saying it's nothing more than just now a sign of hope is not understanding how Blake will become Batman next.

As long as Bruce lives there is that possibility. Bruce letting his allies know that he was alive was more of a kindness, I thought. He was reassuring them that he made it. He fulfilled his mission and escaped to freedom. And yes, Gordon's big smile at seeing the signal was incredible. I get emotional watching Oldman's joy in looking around to see if Batman will reappear.

Gordon's smile at the end was priceless. I think there's also a hint of "You bastard! You got me there! You're alive!" sentiment in his reaction.

I think at that point, the signal was just meant for Gordon to know that Bruce is alive. Gordon doesn't know yet that there will be someone else taking the mantle. But when it does happen, then it will make sense to him that the fixed signal also meant that he'll always have a Batman on his side.

And It's best that this franchise be left alone at this point. The next Batman franchise should not continue from here but make a new start.

I think that this universe is so rich and been through so much that I wouldn't mind a JGL spin-off or something else set in this universe obviously as long as it had Nolan's approval.

The idea of simply starting over feels off to me though will inevitably happen. Warner need to make the right choices and not simply fast-track a new film by putting Director A and Actor B together they need to be as brave and bold as they were with this reboot.

I imagine the reaction to Nolan being the new Director of Batman was very mixed? (I wasn't here for the BB hype) They need that approach again someone that Warner have faith in and not someone whose name will simply own them money.

While I don't know what to think about this particular aspect, what I liked about the end was (obviously) that it gave Bruce a happy ending, while also putting forth the idea that Gotham would always need a Batman. At least, that's the way I like to look at it.

Watching the BD rip right now. Love Bane. What a great character. Just finished the speech on top of the Tumbler, which has the montage of looting, courts, etc. Really well done scene IMHO.

Finished watching the 720p version on a 720p projector (with the 16:9 screen filling up the entire wall, floor to ceiling) at a friend's place, and hooked up to a pair of 2.0 speakers and a subwoofer, and this is why you should watch TDKR like that, if not in a proper theater - the image transfer, the sound mix, and especially watching it on a BIG projected screen, this all makes the home watching experience come as close as possible to the real thing, especially with the whole IMAX aspect of the Blu-ray. And the audio mix can make any old pair of speakers and a subwoofer sound AWESOME!

Actually, it was pretty positive from what I remember. A lot of people were fans of Memento, and Bale was a huge fan favorite as well. So the hype for Begins was pretty overwhelmingly positive.

TDK/Heath was the film that massively split he fanbase. Until the first full length trailer came out, at which point people started to shift to more positive opinion. And after the film it was obvious overwhelming praise. But the time leading up to TDK was crazy, especially on here. There were actually two competeing threads, one saying "I have faith in Chris Nolan" and one saying "I don't have faith in Chris Nolan." It was nuts.

It is. From this pose, she'd be all ready to run against (and beat) Usain Bolt. "Ready, set...."

To have it stacked on my shelves, one copy next to Batman movies, one copy next to Anne-rays, will be a nice moment. Officially apart of the collection. To see the movie font on the spine next to the others.
