I usually don't do elaborate Halloween costumes, but I feel like I should've dressed like Rumple this year...

IGN:
Quote:
The Storybrooke System

This one is probably a long shot, but still, in the wake of the Disney/Lucasfilm deal, it was hard not to make a joke about it – and then stop and think, maybe.. just maybe….

The Disney-owned, ABC hit Once Upon a Time has been branching out, introducing characters who don’t strictly fall into the “fairy tale” category – from Lancelot to the more eyebrow-raising inclusion of Victor Frankenstein. So just how wide a web do they want to weave here? How many portals to other worlds are there that can be accessed within the confines of the show? And could one of those portals access a galaxy far, far away?

Again, it seems like a stretch… But you never know. Maybe it could just be a winking, quick in-joke reference to a character. Or maybe Salacious Crumb runs by in the background of the fairy tale world. Or maybe we meet a grump old gas station owner in Storybrooke and it turns out he’s Dengar! All we know is that now, legally speaking, it could happen.

I don't see them ever doing anything major with it, nor should they, but I could see them making some small, but noticable, references and sight gags.

Jorge Garcia's first appearance on "Once Upon a Time" as the Giant of "Jack and the Beanstalk" fame probably won't be his last.

"I got word last week that they're looking to bring me back in about a month," Garcia tells Zap2it. "So it looks like there will be at least another one."

In Sunday's episode (Nov. 4), Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Capt. Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) climb the beanstalk in search of a magical compass that may help get Emma back to Storybrooke. The Giant, as you might expect, is less than happy to have visitors -- ABC even describes the character as "murderous." Playing mean was something Garcia, best known as super-nice guy Hurley on "Lost," has been itching to do.

"It was a joy," he says. "It was exactly the kind of stuff I was looking forward to getting to do after having played the nicest guy on the island for so long. To get to then go, all right, let's play guys who aren't so happy to see you and can be dangerous was a lot of fun."

As with many of the characters on "Once Upon a Time," the Giant may not be exactly as you remember him from the fairy tale. "'Once Upon a Time' has got that kind of thing where they take something you think you're familiar with and kind of skew it a bit. ... It's where they go in this one as well. It's not exactly as you expect the giant story to be.

"If you're using, like, 'Mickey and the Beanstalk' as a comparison, there's definitely a different angle for this giant," he adds. "But it's pretty good -- I think they'll dig it."

Garcia's scenes were all done with green-screen backdrops, which he says was an exercise in trust with episode director Dave Barrett to make sure his performance fits in the finished show. He also got some help from his fellow actors.

"Jennifer Morrison was a great trouper and even went as far as to lie down on the ground so her face would be next to the camera and the eye line would work," Garcia says. It was definitely a good supporting cast to help me through it."

The episode -- and whatever he may do on "Once Upon a Time" in the future -- also was a mini-"Lost" reunion for Garcia and creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who wrote several Hurley-centric episodes of "Lost."

"It was fantastic. We had been talking for a while, and they've always been saying they wanted to find a way to get me on 'Once Upon a Time,'" Garcia says. "It was [a matter of] looking for when the right opportunity would show up. This giant storyline came up and they pitched it to me, and it seemed like an inspired fit. It just all came together really well."

It almost seems like a forgone conclusion that Michael Raymond James is going to beHenry's father, given the interaction between the two, but I kind of hope he's not Baelfire, since that seems to be what everyone's expecting.

With as much of a break-out surprise hit as the show has been for ABC, I wonder if they're ever going to attempt a spin off. If any show is primed for spin-offs, it's this one. I wouldn't mind a series exploring Once's Oz or something. Especially considering the movie coming out soon, I could see Disney/ABC wanting a piece of that.

You would think it would be a no brain er. If it were fables, a cinderella spin off would be a must.

could be. I already totally expect Oz to come into play around the time Oz comes out in theaters, on the show

I could see ending the season with an Oz cliffhanger of sorts, and then a greater look at it in S3.

I really hope that, at some point, we get Jefferson in full Mad Hatter mode. We only really saw him that way when he was making his hats and that was only for a few seconds anyway. I want full-on craziness, tea parties, the whole nine yards.

That won't start until March, by which filming for the season will be close to finishing if not already done.
