At this point, the party pretty much needs to oust everyone with a leadership position.
It's too bad Ron Paul's so old because he was the only one worth a damn (even if you disagreed with him, at least he had a completely different message, one that couldn't have been seen as 'being pretty much the same' as the Democrats). |

My guess is the big names will be on the moderate, fiscal side: Chris Christie, John Huntsman, probably Jeb Bush and maybe Nikki Haley. On the more far-right ideological side we'll see: Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, Scott Walker possibly Rand Paul and probably some of the 2012 wingnuts like Rick Perry return. It will be a party divided. Honestly, I hope rationality returns to them and they field a sane candidate who doesn't have to pander to the Tea Party. But they will either make their moderate destroy themselves that way or finally run a fringe candidate like Limbaugh and his ilk have been begging for since '08. If that happens, the Dems will cake walk to another victory. Time will tell.

My hope is the party starts moving to the center and sanity again immediately by cutting a bipartisan debt deal with Obama in the next two months. Then focus on things like immigration which can help them with hispanics and help our country would be wise. However, I feel given that Boehner is scared of Cantor getting his job, McConnell is cranky and how after losing a lot of major races, including the White House, this week they're already declaring they will continue to say no to governing and responsibility....I think not. My gut tells me that the Tea Party fringe won't be finally silenced by the party until they get their way and they run a nutjob for president in 2016. Paul Ryan, Rand Paul or someone of the like. Once that goes down in flames like Goldwater did in 1964, they may finally decide to join this century.

Not that I agree with her all too much but Rachel Maddow pretty much knocked it out of the park last night with her monologue:
Wake up GOP. We need you to make this thing work.

The GOP needs to be put to sleep, permanently.

I take it back.
The GOP need to be handcuffed, drugged, thrown into a coffin, nailed down and chained up. Then pour kerosene all over the coffin, and light it up with a torch. Take an UZI and shoot at this coffin until you use up three clips. And then have it thrown off an aircraft into the Pacific Ocean, and nuke the spot every 10 years just be sure.

I predict every Republican candidate in 2016 will do worse than Romney. Christie will be rejected before he even stands a chance to be run as president. Jindal is a dorky loser, Ryan has no gravitas, and Rubio is a gimmick.

I think Jindal's chances were effectively silenced after his horrible response to the President's "State of the Union" speech.

I want Palin/Bachmann 2016, because if you are going to fail, you might as well make it entertaining.

If Clinton runs in 2016, would Biden run?

Yes, for once it won't be a horse race, but what surprises do those clowns have us today.

Its funny how the Republicans cling to 2010 as evidence that Obama was hated. They took back the house. IIRC, most expected significantly greater gains than they got, though.
Bahaha that was awful.

The Republicans won't need to do anything special to get votes next presidential election if another 4 years of Obama is anything like the last four.

Clinton has to have some opposition in the primaries, even though she'll win the nomination if she decides to run again.

meh, it's all way to early to even guess who's going to be around in 4 years, or who's going to come out of nowhere.

LOL this was fast- Rubio is heading to Iowa next week for a fundraiser.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...owa-next-week/ Given that he hails from Florida & how poorly Romney did with minorities, all eyes seem to be turning to Rubio as their best bet to combat the changing U.S. demographics. He is a young senator who Republicans pray can inspire legitimate enthusiasm for a Republican candidate for the first time in decades. Too bad the guy is a hardcore tea partier. But, he will still be a politician to follow as the Grand Ole Party's younger generations instinctively turn on the establishment. Rubio's influence is certainly on the rise. ![]()

From what I've heard, Latinos don't even like Rubio just because he's Hispanic. But I won't be surprised if he throws his hat into the ring and tries to run for presidency in 2016.
