Default The Official Michael Massee as Green Goblin thread

Wasn't sure if I should start this in the sequel forum or here, but either way it pertains to both films.

I've been following Massee for a long time, going back to The Crow, Se7en & Lost Highway.

When I saw him in the post-credits scene, having skipped all the ASM trailers, I thought two things: Its awesome to see Massee in a Spidey film, but its even more awesome to see him as Gobby.

For those of you unfamiliar with this terrific actor, here's his filmography. I figure now's a good time to catch up on his work since Norman will probably have a bigger role in ASM2.

My Father is Coming (1994) Directed by Monika Treut

Home of Angels (1994) Directed by Nick Stagliano

The Crow (1994) Directed by Alex Proyas

la Folie (1994) Directed by Diane Kurys

Burnzy's Last Call (1995) Directed by Michael de Avila

Sahara (1995) Directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith

Tales from The Hood (1995) Directed by Rusty Cundieff

Se7en (1995) Directed by David Fincher

The Low Life (1996) Directed by George Hickenlooper

An Unfinished Affair (1996) Directed by Rod Hardy

Mojave Moon (1996) Directed by Kevin Dowling

One Fine Day (1996) Directed by Michael Hoffman

Jamaica Beat (1997) Directed by Mark Melnick

Lost Highway (1997) Directed by David Lynch

The End of Violence (1997) Directed by Wim Wenders

The Game (1997) Directed by David Fincher

Playing God (1997) Directed by Andy Wilson

Amistad (1997) Directed by Steven Spielberg

Guy (1997) Directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg

The Florentine (1999) Directed by Nick Stagliano

War of The Angels (1999) Directed by Jim Sonzero

Bad City Blues (1999) Directed by Michael Stevens

The White River Kid (1999) Directed by Arne Glimcher

The Theory of The Leisure Class (2001) Directed by Gabriel Bologna

Corky Romano (2001) Directed by Rob Pritts

Momentum (2003) Directed by James Seale

NYPD 2069 (2004) Directed by Gregory Hoblit

Catwoman (2004) Directed by Pitof

Pandemic (2007) Directed by Armand Mastroianni

The Resident (2011) Directed by Antti Jokinen

The Amazing Spider Man (2012) Directed by Marc Webb

Massee's also been a regular on shows like 24, Carnivale, Revelations, Flash Forward and Rizzoli & Isles.

Props to Marc Webb for going with an actor I've suggested for Goblin to friends over the years many times. The guy's got the look, the voice & if you read through his filmography, the ASM series is the biggest thing that's happened to him since accidentally killing Brandon Lee 20 years ago. Its a shame to say that a guy this talented had his biggest moment when tragedy struck.

Anyway, here's hoping his portrayal of Norman levels Dafoe's and challenges Ledger's. Gobby is an agent of chaos - on a glider.

He's not Osborn though.

Have I missed an announcement or something?

Pretty sure he's playing Norman. Ifans was lying about "The Man in The Shadows" not being Osborn.

I think this thread is a little premature. We have absolutely no idea who he's playing and Rhys Ifans said he was playing someone working for Norman, not Norman himself. Whether he was misguiding us or not doesn't really matter because we still don't know who he's playing either way.
