Like what Giankin said, everyone hates Hayden.

Retrospectively, I am fine with Hayden and I would not mind to see him in Force Ghost in the new movie.
If the dialogues and scenario had not been mediocre ( at best ) in the PT no one would have blamed him.

If only James Franco had been casted as Anakin and no baby Anakin in TPM...well...

People forget how whiny Luke was in the OT . If they ask Hayden for a cameo as a Force ghostie, i'm fine with that. I didnt hate the guy in the PT.

Luke was not as much a crybaby as Anakin.
Oncle Owen and Aunt Beru deaths didn't make him a crying spong either.

Heh, I remember back when they were casting the role of Anakin and Lucas gave some interview where he said something about how the actor they would choose would be absolutely perfect for the role, to the point where he would silence any doubters.

Talk about being wrong.

Who knows, had they had a better script and someone that can direct actors, he would have probably been a lot better.

Yeah, maybe. Still, Hayden has been bad in pretty much everything else I've seen him in, other than Life as a House (and even there, he had some questionable moments).

Luke was fine because he was still likable and acted like a human being.

Think about Luke's role in Empire: Mark had to act along side a yeti (Wampa), a robot (R2D2), a puppet (Yoda) and a masked cyborg (Vader) for the majority of the film and acted his ass off. And he lost in the end. Mark ran around Hayden in circles in the acting department in that one film.

Exactly. I remember watching Hayden in Life as a House right after hearing he'd been cast in Star Wars, and I thought he was going to make a great Anakin.

Then the movie came out and he had to go on about not liking sand.

I don't think he's a great actor overall, but the stuff he was given in the prequels didn't help.

That was the exact difference. Luke grew up through the three films. There was literally no growth for Anakin across the prequels. Even the difference between Hayden's Anakin and Jake Lloyd's Anakin is apparent - there was a sense of good in the younger Anakin that was missing from the Hayden version. He just got replaced by a whiny teenager.

Again, I blame most of that on the writing than solely on Hayden's performance. I don't think anyone could have made that dialogue work.

"You underestimate my power." Is one of the worst moments in the PT. Not just because of the delivery, it's the entire scenario. He talks about power and can't even do a decent jump. Why did he even have to jump over him? There was more than enough space in front of Obi-Wan. I would have jumped and done a force push at Obi-Wan, or do a freaking Force choke. But no, the script wants him to go out like a loser, because Obi-Wan has the high ground.

There was so much that was awful about Revenge of the Sh** that I'll never understand how people can claim Lucas "redeemed" himself with it. From that awful scene where Anakin inexplicably kneels in front of Palpatine after he just murdered Windu to Padme "losing the will to live," that film was a mess from start to finish.

As odd as it might sound, kinda makes sense to me. Anakin had left his mom (who he cared for tremendously) to go to the jedi order, where such attachments werent really encouraged. That had to be frustrating to him. Although one can argue if it's canon or not, the years between TPM and AOTC we see Anakin growing up and thinking himself better than a lot of his fellow jedi (at least in the few books i've read lol), and when we see him in AOTC his arrogance has slowly built (fueled by Palps, of course) to a point where he thinks he's better than everyone, including his Master. He thinks he's entitled to move faster than everyone, because he's better than most of them. Add that to the fact that he was in his teenage years where angst is the norm, and there u have it lol. Granted, the execution wasnt what it should have been at times and there were cringy lines, but to me Anakin was just an emotionally crippled and a very flawed individual. I always wondered if Shmi gave Anakin the line of "u have no father" when he asked about his dad, or if she told him something else. Imagine the trauma he carried around if she told him lol. I just think the time span between TPM and AOTC is crucial, but we didnt get to see it on the screen, which is a pity. It's why i sometimes wish we would have met Anakin as a teenager already in TPM, and not a small boy, that's one of the things i would change if given the chance.

But, i guess this is a discussion for the PT boards, sowwy!

The first 20 minutes and the Yoda vs Palpatine fight is some of the best Star Wars ever.

Didn't the first 20 minutes feature the awful General Grievous, as well as Christopher Lee doing cartoon somersaults in the air?

That wasn't some of the best Star Wars ever.

I read that the late Jonathan Brandis wanted the role of Anakin in AOTC and ROTS, and when Lucas shot him down, that's when Brandis played russian roulette with a gun (or whatever he did)

Yes and no. They call the shots (via LucasFilms) but Fox handles distribution. So Disney would make money on royalties, but Fox would get a distribution cut.

This deal expires in 2020, so Disney might actually just hold off until then - that's just my guess.

I'd see it like this:

Winter 2015/2016
Ep 7 Blu-ray

Winter 2017/2018
Ep 8 Blu-ray

Winter 2020/2021
Ep9 Blu-ray
ST Blu-ray
OOT Blu-ray (unaltered with remastered colour at 1080p & the Special Edition)
PT Blu-ray (Unaltered and Special Edition)
And some Ultimate Saga Blu-ray thing (including Theatrical and Special Editions) and maybe another version that also includes Clone Wars or something.

It would have been cool to see Yoda ghost force Choke Anakin at the end as a lesson to not betray them again in the afterlife

Wow. I wasn't aware that he killed himself. I remember him in Stephen King's "It".

Truth be told Pattinson would have been a better choice then Hayden. Pattison actually plays Cullen good and was good in Water For Elephants.

You didn't like Grevious?! I liked him silent in the Clone wars more but I liked him. Especially the cough after the 'You're shorter than I expected' joke fell flat.

I really don't care about Leapfrog Dooku.

Other reasons to love Episode 3: Obi-Wan vs Grevious and the entire Order 66 sequence.
