Nothing, guy's a genius as far as I'm concerned. But not suitable for SW, that's all.

I would imagine a strict b**ch (in the best possible sense) like Kennedy and Disney would hire him knowing he'd need to be on a leash. Gore's defintiely better than Favs.

Kimberg being hired for 8 and 9 suggests Matthew Vaughn. But I'm jumping on the Favreau theory with everyone else. And I liked Iron Man 2 and Cowboys & Aliens, so I'd be happy.

I have the same feeling.
Looks like Kevin Smith thinks he's good enough.

I still think that Joe Johnston and Matthew Vaughn are the perfect candidates.

Nolan just got done with a big franchise. If he's his usual, Nolaney self, he'll probably do smaller non-franchise things for a while. I wouldn't get my hopes up for him directing. And he can do pretty much any movie he wants at WB, while Disney and Lucasfilm are probably going to keep Star Wars on a tight leash.

Of course Baz. Without his cool first name I was lost. Though Csupo is random.

I feel like this is one of the few surefire hits where that's not too big a risk. This movie's not in danger of making anything other than a huge profit, even if the budget were to end up a little inflated.

And Baz is indeed an awesome first name.

Nolan is a great director but Star Wars is not suited for his style of work.

Exactly, which is why screenwriters have already been hired for Episodes VIII and IX.

I nominate Rob Zombie.

Last time I watched House of a 1,000 Corpses I thought to myself "Star Wars needs this guy".

I agree. Verbinski would be a great choice.

He's still my top choice since Bird is out

1)Verbinski
2)Blomkamp
3)Kosinski
4)Favreau (This has a decent chance of happening)
5)Raimi
6)Johnston

If Favreau gets hit, who will eh cast himself as?

I can't get excited about Favreau. I know his Iron Man film is beloved, but it doesn't have much to do with his directorial style. He's okay, but doesn't set my world on fire. I like him as a guy, but as a director he hasn't won me over yet. Maybe he will with this? Possibly.

I have a feeling this will be micro-managed, so we just need someone serviceable IMO. Someone that won't completely **** it up.

Favreau I don't think will get hired. Unless he is still involved in producing Avengers and Iron Man films. Then maybe Disney would give him a try out to see if he would fit for the Star Wars project but my guess is it will be someone Lucas had in mind before he retired.

I like that suggestion. He's Lucas' apprentice
I also want Spielberg's apprentice to produce, and be very much involved in the process.

Ron would be awesome. I just cant see it happening though. I just rewatched Tron Legacy and think Kosinski could do really well with the property. And, he is available. Favreau is a safe bet and a director who wouldn't have me worried. I'd say they are two real posibilities that would have me excited.

I really think Favreau is the one. He's a fan, worked with Lucas, has a connection to Disney and no other big projects on the horizon. If I were a betting man I'd put money on it.

In comparison to George Lucas, Ron Howard is the younger generation (sort of).

But since you guys are willing to drag up directors with just a few projects under their belt, how about PJ Hogan? He did wonders with Peter Pan (the best adaption of the character).
