Anne looks badass, her face sells it - very determined. Just looking at that, I believe this is a woman who has been in and out of prison and knows the score, nor is she phased. Walking her own path.

I really wish at times that we could have gotten a better close up on Anne's face when she was playing Selina's reaction to hearing Bruce's voice again after thinking that he was dead; let alone getting one scene during that 5 month hiatus about what she thought about that event of seeing him manhandled by Bane, but it was still good on what we got.

Anne on top of the situation is most definitely a money shot. In the novelisation Daggett actually thinks to himself 'only if she had a whip'.

I love it when Daggett says the clean slate doesn't exist. The way Anne conveys the frustration, then moving into sad acceptance, but still desperate as she realises the goons are circling.

Yeah I felt Anne conveyed a lot with her facials in the movie, you were never left wondering about her feelings.

If it was the competition of 2009 or 2011, I would say that it's in. But this year? I just do not think it will get in. There are too many great movies that are up the Academy's alley that will take 7 or 8 slots. Then there are enough decent films that while not as good as TDKR, are, again, up the Academy's alley.

Oh well.

End of the day, like Nolan once said, you don't make a film like this because you're hoping to please the Academy. You make it for the people. Recognition is gravy, and hopefully it will get all the technical nods it deserves.

Overall I'd say I agree with the Best Picture winner about 25% of the time.

I think the big surprise for me was how much chemistry her and Bale had. I was floored with their first encounter in Wayne Manor and was beyond delighted when they met up again at the charity ball. I can't wait to re-watch all of their scenes again next week.

I love how they're doing all the singing live instead of pre-recorded. Gives the whole venture a pretty distinctive feel, imo.

Also I saw a "documentary clip thing" where they talked about singing live. and I think the payoff really shows. It really makes the music hit hard and make the music feel like it is part of the story rather then a spectacle that is tacked on because it is in the source material.

Yeah, I saw that featurette, too. You can really see why - from a technical standpoint - this approach has never really been done in film before, but like you said, I think the end result is proving to be worth the extra challenges this method presents.

Les Mis is looking really good. The clip of Fantine already gets you emotional, especially knowing what's coming.
