It was filmed in South Africa right? Great setting. Really got a different vibe from the background but in a good way.
If there is a sequel I would love to see this director's take on the Dark Judges

I feel like SA is one of those places that still seems foreign and futuristic to most western viewers. That's why it worked so effectively as a setting for things like Dredd and Halo and District 9.

South Africa doesn't feel that foreign or futuristic to me. Parts of Asia or the middle east feel foreign or futuristic for me.
Cape Town looks like alot of South American cities to me. The thing that stands out for the city is table mountain.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I thought Dredd was absolutely terrible. It was barely even SyFy watchable.

I'd say it was like the Raid:Redemption....only with a lot more guns....and you know, taking place in the future.

Yeah, but The Raid was essentially just Die Hard with kung fun to begin with.
Not to mention, unlike Raid, Dress was choked full of 80s goodness.

I'd put The Raid over Dredd purely because I love martial arts films but Dredd is really good.

Well, action wise, yeah, it was. Storywise? It's ridiculous. But the story is just a vehicle for awesome effin' action.....and sometimes, that's more than enough.
Also, I just saw Moonrise Kingdom. God I love Wes Anderson movies.

I didn't like Raid much at all. It just seemed like a very generic Asian martial arts movie to me. But I'm in the minority on that.

You didn't like Urban's never ending grimmance and Frank Miller Batman impersonation?

He played Judge Dredd, as I understand it, comic accurate. Sadly, I've never read a Judge Dredd comic in my life.

Moonrise Kingdom was pretty good but i'd rather watch Fantastic Mr. Fox over and over.

I think Moonrise is probably Anderson's best film. The way he and Coppola integrated the innocence of childhood, the romance of adolescence and the lethargy and discontent of late adulthood into one story was pretty incredible.

Yeah, Life Aquatic was the s**t. Easily my favorite....but I love em all. If I'm ever surfing the channels, if any of them are on, I will stop to watch em....except Bottle Rocket. That was pretty meh.
