According to the Skyfall DLC from 007 Legends,
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Eve shot Bond on the left side of his belly and he washed up on some bank shore.

Managed to see this, at last, last night. Really enjoyed it, though it seemed a bit surreal and disjointed in places. On balance, I think I prefer Casino Royale, but this one was certainly memorable.

The after pic of Olga looks a lot more like Craig's ex, Satsuki Mitchel.
Also, the after pic of Sophie Marceau is really surprising. I would have thought she would age much better.

Why would you say that so matter of factly when you are so wrong?

They are saying, Ma'm but it's being pronounced as mum because that is how we say it here in the UK. Stupidly, they had Bond starting off pronouncing it as mum in CR and then pronouncing it in an Americanised way in QoS and then back again for SF.

That still doesn't make James Bond a codename any more than Bruce Wayne or Peter Parker.

you're almost right - but as far as I know it isnt informal, it is quite formal in fact, like calling someone Sir, it is pronounced "Marm" (arm with an M on the front) not Mam like they say in the U.S and Bond was 100& saying Ma'am not mum

Dialects are tricky, especially when we get into all you UK fellows over there. I was in the play Never In My Lifetime a few months ago, in which we had character speaking in a RP dialect, Yorkshire, and Northern Irish. The entire time I couldn't help but think "how can people so close together have such different dialects?" You all just have to be so unique don't you!

I won't lie though, it is a lot of fun. Though I only got to do the RP dialect, because my character was from London. I really wanted to try out the Yorkshire or Northern Irish.

Just As long as you don't sound like Josh Hartnett in Blow Dry when you do a Yorkshire accent then try it.

PS....That's why it pisses me off when Americans think we all Speak like The Queen. Also what RP dialect, does RP stand for Right Posh?? Lol

Can I do a Cockney dialect like Dick Van Dyke?

Skyfall's now at about $246 million domestic. It will easily pass over $250 million this week.

Can we rule out $300 million at this point or will it fizzle out of theaters before Christmas?

I think Sony and MGM will try and keep it in theaters long enough to make $300 since that would be a big feather in their cap after the string of bombs and disappointments as of late.

I think if it does make $300 million domestic it has a good chance of hitting $1 billion worldwide.

What's sort of interesting to me. Jason Bourne movies sort of started flourishing when Bond movies started to decline. And now the Jason Bourne franchise has declined and Bond is flourishing again. I mean Bourne Legacy was terrible and was a big disappointment. Did lower numbers than Bourne Identity as well.

$1 billion WW is locked even without $300 million domestic happening.

About 100 years ago, as a cadet in the ATC, I remember being taught to call my female superior officers ma'am pronounced "mam", and not "maahm". I recall thinking it sounded American at the time, but apparently that is the way it has always been done in the forces.

So men call older women of authority mom in England? That's rude.

Me too. She's my favorite Bond girl/villan.

I would say that when you compare the ladies from the time they played Bond girls, and then 30 years out, Jane Seymore is the only one that has aged well.

This is what I've always thought in regards to Bond, but Skyfall had me questioning it in parts. I understand the cute nods to other Bond films (Q's pen reference, Casino Royale's "i'm the money//every penny," etc.) but with Skyfall they seemed to almost insinuate that the other Bond films might've actually been in continuity with this one, specifically with the classic Bond car.

I mean, yeah...it's another cute in-joke to the franchise, but coupled with the "old fashioned" remarks and stuff it just seemed like it was intended to be the classic car and not just a nod, which would insinuate that the other Bond films might've actually happened and that Bond is a codename or something.

Please note that I'm not trying to insinuate I think Bond is, in fact, a codename. I'm just saying there are some interesting tidbits in Skyfall that seemed to go that route.

Can anyone tell me what the significance of the Bond grave markers was? They make sure to reveal the names and Bardiem has a chuckle, and I thought it was because he assumed Bond was a codename much like the code name he was given, but then in actuality Bond is just his real name. Was that the intention? Kind of like a "gotcha!" to those who suspected Bond was, indeed, a codename?

Also: loved this movie. I'd put it a notch below Casino Royale but only slightly.
