James Mcavoy and Michael Fassbender are going to be big part of film and promation.

I hope we don't have to wait till comic con to find out who the time traveler Is.And during panel If that Isn't asked who ever asks questions Is an idiot.

Hugh Jackman is still the most popular actor from the cast. Outside of this forum, Wolverine is the general public's favorite. Jennifer Lawrence is popular right now because her Oscar win is still recent and of course because of the Hunger Games but next year it could easily change especially if one from the cast members of DOFP, other than her wins an Oscar or at least gets a nomination.

Fair enough. Maybe Fox isn't really the best company to recognize talent over stardom or box-office draws or whatever, but I'll remain optimistic that the First Class talent will get their fair share of attention and respect.

A curious thing happened to James when Atonement was released...Keira was certainly a much bigger star than he was at the time and was supposed to get top billing, but she refused and said that James should get it instead, because of his acting in the film. And so he got it. But I know that the majority of stars wouldn't be as generous as Keira.

Marketing has nothing to do with talent. It isn't just Fox that recognizes stardom and box office draws over talent. A film's main purpose is to make money so they have to appeal to the bigger stars who usually have bigger fanbases, that way they get more people to see the film. There is no resentment towards James McAvoy in any way.

I don't know why you lot are obsessing over the order of the credits so much!? That's the last thing on my mind, and it's something that's up to the actors and the studio at the end of the day.

first class was very well received by critics so i think FOX will play on that too when promoting this film, after all X3 and origins didn't play well with critics and FOX have almost been to scared to go anywhere near those films again

Yeah. If Wolverine doesn't get to be a time traveller, I could see the film do "and Hugh Jackman" like they did with Charlize Theron in Prometheus.

It's probably not going to happen, but it would be funny after all these discussions if the DoFP poster actually just had a giant Sentinel image on it and no actors I mean, look at the Star Trek: Into Darkness poster that's out now: it just has a post-apocalyptic shot and one tiny figure who I presume is Kirk but could really be anybody. No actor heads or anything.

And actually, if they do intend this to be the Biggest X-Men Movie Evar, they might in fact want to sell the elements other than the actors in the movie. The "old cast + new cast" thing will create interest for sure, but I suspect it will mostly preach to the converted. And the biggest X-Men movie to date - with all the most popular characters, the most popular character and the biggest star, the two movies' worth of build-up - still didn't make anywhere near enough to put it into the Avatar/LoTR/Avengers territory. Like I said in the other thread, they'll need to pull in the people who never had much interest in X-Men.

And yes posters are all about marketability, and sometimes it's not even about how well-known the actors are. Case in point:



Lady Deathstrike is played by an obscure actress, has like one line in the whole movie and one scene of any note. So why is she on the poster with McKellen and Stewart stacked beneath her? My guess is, because she looks exotic and hot and this is a movie geared mostly towards young males. Sometimes it's just about being young and attractive.

Whatever the DoFP poster turns out to be, I hope it's a huge improvement on FC poster. That poster was just blandness personified.

The posters for X2 were amazing and they were really catchy and attention-grabbing! I remember when I went to the theater to watch X2, there were a lot of posters and in my country, they were a lot of promotions like for the movie unlike with Origins/First Class.

Aside from the fact that Omar is black, he looks nothing like Bishop!

Unless his English has gotten a lot better or Singer is going with a French Bishop, don't see how he could be Bishop. Gateway is possible since he doesn't talk. Not sure who else it could be. The other black mutants I have found don't really fit.
