I've been reading this book for months now. I've just been so busy that it's taking me forever. It's a bit jarring how much time elapses between chapters sometimes.

^It can be jarring, especially when plot-points happen within those time elapses, and the only way to know is if a character says so in the next chapter. Like I said, light on story.

I'm currently listening to Eragon while at work. 18 chapters in and I'm pretty bored.

Gave up on Eragon. 170 or so pages and not a single thing that interests me. Time to move on to something else.

When I first saw your post I was thinking to myself, "is there an Albert Camus novel I've neither read nor heard about? How could that be?" So I went on Amazon and found out it is The Stranger under another title. I read that for the first time when I was 16, and it changed my life. I went on to read everything by Camus that I could find, and then moved onto Sartre, who I also loved... Although, I still find Camus the superior of the two, even though most seem to disagree. Sartre may be more quotable, and may be a little better at the use of language and the technical craft of writing, but Camus' novels and essays are so much more gripping and visceral. He puts you inside his characters and makes you feel the same disbelief of what's going on around them as they feel. Easily one of my favorite writers.

Flashfire by Richard Stark

I hear this is generally considered one of the weaker Parker books, but I think it was pretty decent. I don't know if it was good enough to base a film on, but I didn't have a problem picturing Jason Statham as Parker while reading it.

The Stealer of Souls by Michael Moorcock. The best epic fantasy I've ever read.

Deadhouse Gates by Erikson. Baudin is growing on me despite decapitating that noble early on. Contrast that with Felisin, who is becoming insufferable.
