I really don't think anyone in here was posting as though they had a free pass to flame... the only name anyone called anyone else was a dick... which was the name of the thread...

Last year was worse because Alexei Belyakov was getting a bunch of noms like Jamie, one of the posters PM'd Alexei about it, and Alexei was flipping out in the thread among other people getting upset that they were nominated, hence a drunk me telling everyone to suck it up haha and take their noms like champs to paraphrase.

I dont see how this alleged flaming is relevant to the award having its named changed. Seems a lot more likely someone wasnt too happy about being called the awards name and requested the name change. Yeah that was probably it...

BTW, i'm kind of for this award just being gotten rid of. Opens up a can of worms. People get hurt. And not even just the people you're voting for.

The name got changed because the mods felt that if we don't allow someone to be called that on the forum on a regular day we shouldn't allow it here. It wasn't from anyone complaining, simply looking at it today and having some discussion on it that we hadn't had before....simply towing the line for us as well and following our day to day rules. We changed it to Villain to follow what the Hype is all about. Comic book heros and Villains.

Had absolutely nothing to do with anyone complaining about being nominated.

The ironic thing is that most of the drama happened because of the name change. Before it, people were just posting their nominations.
