I'd like it if Darkseid ends the first JL film by killing Barry, then leaving.

You still don't explain why there should be CGI for Kalibak or Darkseid-- and even if Darkseid was portrayed as nine foot tall-- that can be done with greater success by scaling. VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Mr. Wink was great but you could tell that those were prosthetics. If they made Darkseid with great CGI like Davey Jones, and prosthetics like Hellboy, then that would be much more authentic looking than going pure prosthetics/CGI for Darkseid's body.

Darkseid is stone, his muscles really don't have to flex all that much. The CGI doesn't need to be on the level of Davy Jones. I see everything being practical with CGI touch ups.

His eyes don't need to glow. The only CGI that is required is when he actually fires beams from his eyes, but that has nothing to do with his appearance.
What is key about the look of Darkseid are the square-topped boots, the skin texture, the silhouette of the helmet which wraps under the chin, and the color blue. These are the things I focused on in the image I posted on the second page of this thread. ![]() VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:
Check out the chin guard in the above video at 2:05. This is how Darkseid's head gear needs to wrap around his face. Last edited by thorstone; 12-10-2012 at 10:02 PM. |

That design for Darkseid would be great to see in the film! |

Now THAT is a Darkseid I'd like to see. Totally doable with what you describe.

Performance capture would be definitely the way to go for Darkseid I think. |

The thing about CGI is you know it's CGI because most often it's **** that you know can't be done on set. Animatronics and prosthetics look real because they are real-- they are actually happening in the lense of the camera.

Regardless, animatronics and prothetics don't always look real and regardless of being actual materials, it doesn't mean 100% visual authenticity. Like I said in the case of Mr. Wink, you could easily tell he was done with animatronics and prosthetics. Like I said, I'd go for a mixture of prostethetics and CGI

I'd do a combination of Mocap and prosthetics. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

Yeah, I don't see why it has to be one or the other either when both could work together and achieve even greater results.

![]() ![]() Exactly what looks fake about these characters? They look amazing to me. What would look fake is if they had tried to portray Hellboy as seven feet tall and 400lb with CGI demon legs. Last edited by thorstone; 12-11-2012 at 08:19 PM. |

However, like Hellboy, Darkseid will require some CGI for completion and touch ups.

Hellboy is a virtual full-body prosthetic. All of the muscles are fake; as well as the stone hand (which is especially relevant to the Darkseid debate). Hellboy didn't involve CGI in the character's portrayal (except one ****y looking scene in the first film where they couldn't afford the animatronic hand to crush a coke can so they animated it with computers). I assume you meant, "unlike Hellboy." Nobody has yet to explain exactly why CGI is needed for Darkseid-- you guys just want CGI; like gaudy spinners on a car. |
