Two totally different efforts and implications. Comic Con was announcing the existance of the film, introducing the project. This was using an image from existing footage. It is 2 different world's to me, I'll just leave my opinion at that.

Not a bad thing in my opinion, that stuff might come later remember this isn't a Superman whose sure of himself and is only just starting out. I reckon they'll save that stuff for sequels.

No, I don't know their strategy but let's be honest here. 'Art' in these promotional posters and banners are missing more often than not. Where's the effort nowadays?

It's basically the type of 'art' I would mock up in 9th grade with Imageready (and/or Quark ).

We don't need that, but it would be nice to see a poster of him flying in the sky with a clear shot of his costume in the sun. Simple but with a brighter tone.

Both photos have Superman in dimly lit corridors/shadows. I assume in the movie Superman will make an appearance in the daylight.

Please elaborate if you have examples. I haven't really been looking around for public reaction.

Yeah, I'm not sure yet what my feelings are about the whole desaturated look of the film so far...

When I was putting my two cents in on the composition, I very-much felt like I was reviewing a student's portfolio.
But again, I don't think this was treated with any kind of importance at WB.

Yet again a piece of marketing for this film that does nothing to interest me. I don't have high hopes for this....hopefully the trailer is more exciting.

I posted this elsewhere as well, but I think this sums it up:

MOS Poster: Great concept, but out of focus
Star Trek Poster: Beautiful and crisp poster, but derivative concept

Ok. Either way, what was unlocked is subpar. Whether or not you want to call it a poster or an image. If this ends up in theaters without being cleaned up, it's meh to me.

However, this scene or sequence in a movie with Superman getting taken into custody. Yes please. I like it.

To me I think they left the poster like that on purpose to show the gritty realistic take on Superman they are going for. I'd like to believe they did at least.

I guess people were expecting an Iron Man type atmosphere for the cinematography instead of a Bourne/Batman Begins/can't think of the other director's name I want to refer to...

I continue to find all of this so ironic. People complaining about how dark and depressing Superman Returns and here we are with the same approach.

I do however think the Trailer wipes all of this away.

and if the trailer does end up being as mind blowingly awesome as Godfrey is saying it is.....

this will be our reaction:

Us Superman fans upon seeing this poster: "Ugh. My life is over. I can't go on!!"

Us Superman fans upon watching the trailer: "I have purpose and meaning now!! Life is so beautiful!!"

I keep hearing the trailer will have that effect. I hope so, can't wait to see it for myself! Yes, thus far the marketing has been rather dark, and it does remind me of some of the Superman Returns marketing.

I was hoping they would change things up and release that type of media at equal measure to darker toned media. It would be good to distance from Superman Returns which had that type of tone in a lot of their media imo.
