Wouldn't Dane have made a better Eddie Brock?

I mean, the first film was all about how Peter was a bit of a loner and then suddenly "Oh hai it's my best friend I haven't seen in years!"

Plus, Harry Osborn was done well in the last trilogy. It's time to give another character a fair go.

Anyone can add muscle to play as Eddie Brock. In S-M 3's case, Topher should've added more, but even then, he wasn't good enough to act as Eddie Brock.

There's a difference between toning up (which anyone can do) and adding enough mass and muscle to look like a pro wrestler (impossible for most skinny guys).

A Bane sized Eddie would look stupid. That's more the size I'd want Venom to have.

Tom Hardy doesn't really strike as the Eddie Brock type, the look and even his voice is wrong

Eddie in the very original comics did look pretty damn muscular, but Tom's face is wrong for the part

I think Eddie should be very well built. You should see that he goes to the gym. But it would really look dumb if he'd be Bane big if you ask me, running around with that camera. That's the size he should get as Venom. Would be perfect IMO.

Hardy's Bane never looked the "bodybuilder" type though. I could see the same work with Eddie Brock if he ever showed up again.
